By Laura MillsAn angling group today warned people not to eat any trout caught downstream of the Maruia 1080 poison drop, after 680 rat carcases were washed up on North Beach at Westport at the weekend. The Department of Conservation is currently awaiting the results of toxicology tests on the rats, and some birds and fish also found dead on the beach.
The rats are believed to have been swept down the Buller River after the aerial poison drop a week ago was followed by torrential rain in the headwaters.
Health authorities say that because the rivers are still in flood, no one will be catching sports fish. However, NZ Federation of Freshwater Anglers president, veterinarian Dr Peter Trolove, said people should not eat trout downstream of Maruia for some time.
He called for more research on the effects of 1080 on fish. “Early studies were not conducted for long enough,” Dr Trolove said.
Trout could consume a reasonable dose and not show clinical signs of the toxin, he said.
“I would urge extreme caution,” he said to anglers.
Dr Trolove said the Government advice to wait a week after a 1080 drop was based on Cawthron Institute tests, which had fed the trout under half a pellet to replicate bykill.
However, he had seen trout taking full pellets. He personally had caught a trout in South Westland more than three months after a winter 1080 drop, and the fish was “blue in its gut” from the poison.
West Coast medical officer of health Dr Cheryl Brunton, who signs off on all 1080 operations, said today the rivers were in flood and no one would be catching fish anyway.
She noted it was not yet known what had killed the rats. “It will be interesting to see what the results are.”
DOC South Island operations director Mark Davies said trout were known to eat mice, but not rats, which were typically much bigger than mice.
If people had concerns, they should follow Ministry for Primary Industries advice to anglers to avoid eating trout from water ways in a 1080 operation area for seven days after the operation. The aerial poison operation in the Maruia valley was completed on November 3. “People need to take a precautionary approach with dogs, which are susceptible to poisoning from 1080. With their propensity to scavenge, people do need to be careful and keep their dogs super vised on leads or keep dogs away from affected beaches until the results of the toxicology tests come back,” Mr Davies said. People should also be cautious when handling dead rats. “If they do contain toxin, naturally occurring bacteria will break this down over time as the carcases disintegrate — there is no threat to human health.” In 2014, DOC issued warnings after the independent Cawthron research found the food safety risk from fish was higher than expected. Two years later, MPI advised a seven-day stand-down. Alan Simmons from the NZ Outdoors Party said today thousands of “poison laden time bombs” had been swept 140km downstream in Buller. “There are likely to be rotting and poisoned animal bodies all the way down the Buller River, ready to kill family pets, moreporks, trout, seagulls and any other creature that eats the carcases,” Mr Simmons said. In 2017 deer carcases were found on a beach in Southland, poisoned possums washed up on Dunedin beaches, and warning signs were recently put on Taranaki beaches after poisoned carcases were found scattered along the coastline, he said.

Marc Morano from Climate Depot recently had the chance to sit down with Mark Steyn from Fox News to discuss Gore’s financial ties to the fake meat industry. During their conversation, Morano explained that Gore very well could become the world’s “post-meat billionaire,” should these Democrats somehow achieve their goal of forcing the entire world – excluding themselves, of course – to adopt a “plant-based” diet free of meat.
“It’s made up of 22 ingredients including bamboo and potato starch, and now it is the most successful IPO this year,” Morano stated about Beyond Meat. “And at the same time, Gore’s associates are writing reports condemning meat and linking eating it to climate (change). He is essentially lobbying for regulations that will enrich him once again.”
Morano’s “again” comment refers to shenanigans that Gore pulled during the Obama years, when 44 poured billions of taxpayer dollars into “green energy” firms, many of which ended up going kaput before anyone even knew where the money went.
As it turns out, Gore had an affiliation with some 14 different firms that received portions of Obama’s $2.5 billion “green stimulus,” which means Gore was basically handed taxpayer money for absolutely no good reason other than he’s a leftist crook.
“If a Democrat wins the White House, there is going to be a whole fake meat stimulus,” Morano warns, noting that the United Nations is already planning to implement a new climate agreement that will eventually lead to skyrocketing meat prices – meaning a windfall of ill-gotten gain for Gore and his fellow climate liars.

CBC News recently conducted an investigation on the pesticide levels in some of the most major tea-producing companies. Using an accredited lab, the investigators utilized testing methods employed by the National Food Inspection Agency to test pesticide residues on dry tea leaves.

The investigators at CBC found that over half of all teas tested had pesticide residues that were above the legally acceptable limit. Multiple chemicals were found in 8 out of 10 teas, with one brand of tea containing over 22 different types of pesticides (Uncle Lee’s Legends of China tea brand).
A large majority of these pesticides are currently being banned in several countries due to the health risks they pose to workers that handle them, and the negative effects they have on the environment (as well as the health of those that consume the products).
“This is very worrisome from a number of perspectives…The presence of so many pesticides on a single product and so many products that exceed the maximum residue limits for pesticides, suggests that we’re seeing very poor agricultural practices in countries, which poses risk to the environment where these products are being grown; which pose risk to the farm workers who are growing these crops, and ultimately pose risk to the Canadians who are consuming these products.”

Some 40 years ago the toheroa was New Zealand’s most loved icon, not only unique to our country but also big, and one could catch and eat it. The toheroa (Paphies ventricosa) is a large clam that lives in wave-washed beaches along NZ’s west coast from Wellington to North Cape. In the late 1970s it became protected by a reduced harvest season of only two days per year. Then it became fully protected. It was expected that its populations would recover within a few years but they did not. Instead their numbers dwindled further until today, it remains economically extinct.
On left the native toheroa (Paphies ventricosa) (1) in the act of digging, and next to it the much smaller but similarly shaped tuatua (Paphies subtriangulatum) (2) and the small tawera or morning star (Tawera spissa), each having its place and depth on the beach. The toheroa is found from Ninety Mile beach down to Auckland, around Levin and a pocket in the very south of the South Island. It burrows at mid tide, the best place to be for abundant plankton. By comparison the tuatua is found between low and spring low tide. Tawera burrows well below low tide in calmer sandy bottoms. Both tuatua and toheroa are active burrowers, capable of keeping up with the turbulent sand under waves.
disappearing scallops The scallop (Pecten novaezelandiae) is another NZ icon on the way out. Only twenty years ago, scallops were numerous and easy to gather but now entire scallop beds have disappeared (red marks on map) and some are not even recognizable. The shells have become small, stunted and empty of their delicious gonads (roe). The burrowed scallop photographed under water (picture below) has not reached legal size, even after ten years of growth. It takes normally 2-3 years to reach legal size. Its margins are stunted (blunted) and it has no content to eat.
New Zealanders did not realize that the toheroa was the first coal miner’s canary (whistle blower) to warn of something terrible happening to our seas. For if total protection could not save it, neither could marine reserves or any other fisheries regulation. It heralded the beginning of a new era, that of dying seas, culminating most likely in the extinction of Maui’s dolphin and the loss of most of our coastal fisheries.
Waitarere Beach NZ, littered today and all week with thousands upon thousands of dead and dying shellfish
This was the scene at Waitarere Beach in the North Island of NZ today (16th March 2017). The carnage extends from just south of Foxton, and south as far as Hokio. A local man from there we spoke to (Hokio is just further south of Waitarere) said he’s lived his whole life near this coastline (he is tangata whenua) and has never seen anything like it before. He said it began last Monday … the shellfish are dying en masse.

This is becoming more frequent by the day as huge die offs of many different species of animal, bird and marine life … mysteriously (or so we’re supposed to believe) disappear. Knowing the state of our planet (for those who are observing it closely) and how trashed and polluted it is, it is not mysterious and not difficult to join a few dots as to the likely causes. Our ocean has been used for decades as a disposal bin for all manner of poisonous trash. The quick, cost effective way for corporations to operate with little accountability. Hokio Stream has become ‘an open sewer’ after years of polluting
A Horowhenua hapu says it has been heartbreaking to watch one of their streams become more and more polluted.
The Levin Landfill has this week been the subject of a hearing, with its effects on the nearby Hoiko Stream being put under the microscope.
The Horowhenua District Council, Horizons Regional Council and environmental group Neighbourhood Liaison Group have spent the week poring over the environmental effects of the landfill.
David Moore, a representative of the NLG and the Ngati Pareraukawa hapu, said the stream’s degradation had been a “tragedy”
The Levin Landfill does not need to meet modern environmental standards because it has already has consent, a council lawyer says.
Note well, that comment is from a council, like most throughout NZ, that purports to recognise “the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and kaitiakitanga, providing for the relationship of Maori and their traditions with their ancestral lands, water sites, waahi tapu and other taonga” (SOURCE) … and to operate “sustainably”. Thousands of Dead Pipi Wash Up on Waihi Beach
Thousands of dead pipi have washed up on Waihi Beach in the Bay of Plenty, shocking the locals.
A video shot by resident Jeannette McCallum on Tuesday shows the sea of dead pipi lying on the beach.
Ms McCallum says she found the blanket of shellfish during a walk with her friend, and in some places the pipi were 20 centimetres deep.
“They were really thick around the stream that comes from the reservoir and onto the beach.”
A popular Northland shellfish-gathering spot is closed indefinitely due to a mysterious population collapse.
Surveyors of Ngunguru Estuary’s pipi beds could find no specimens last year over 5cm in length, compared with 10 years ago when there were about 50 pipi that size per square metre.
Shellfish are found in the near-coastal zone, close to where people live. It stands to reason then that they will be the first to show that the sea is in a serious condition. Furthermore, shellfish cannot swim away temporarily to avoid occasional bad conditions. This article raises alarm about what has been happening and what will happen next. It just gets sillier doesn’t it? Reminds me of the pregnant woman recently who declined the TDAP vaccination … whose Doctor had never read the insert saying it had neither been tested for the unborn nor proven safe for under 10 year olds ! The astute young mother demanded to see the insert then read it out slowly to her Doc and his nursing staff. The Doc was very shocked as indeed he should be with the fees he charges and the lives he’s trusted with protecting.

Similar scenario here. They’re recommending you can eat 1080 while the manufacturer warns quite clearly to wear goggles and a mask while handling it … ‘may cause reproductive or developmental damage’. They don’t always though (wear protective apparatus). See the workers in the video further down. And DOC (those people entrusted with protecting our wildlife among other things) write on their signs, ‘deadly to dogs’.

Hmmm. Same again as the glyphosate debacle, the product that we’re told is drinkable. Harmless as dishwash liquid farmers were told back in the 1970s when they first sold it to them. (Same people who made DDT and Agent Orange and told us it was safe). And have you seen the employees handling the product? Full overalls, gloves and masks (at least if you’re not in a Third World country … they’re poisoned there … by Western corporations, with impunity). They spray it on your food. You know, the GE variety that’s so safe there’s no need to label it? Just how gullible can people be? The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies 1080 as ‘Extremely Hazardous’, most countries ban it outright. DOC’s signs certainly don’t indicate it’s safe as crisps. ‘Do not touch’ let alone eat. WHO also labeled glyphosate as being a probable carcinogen … for a while at least … until corporate persuasion convinced them Prof Séralani’s rats would’ve probably got cancerous tumours anyway.

The website and advocacy group GMO Free USA has gained popularity nationwide for taking on and refuting GMO myths through social media awareness and education, and lately they’ve begun branching out by conducting lab tests on popular foods.
The lab tests are important because GMO labeling is still a right not offered to United States consumers as it is in 60+ countries around the world.
In order to test the Froot Loops for harmful chemicals as well as GMO material, a lab sample was submitted of Froot Loops to a certified lab in 2014.
It found that a full 100% of the corn in Froot Loops was GMO, through a quantitative PCR test by DNA analysis that found sequences that are known to be present in insecticide producing Bt and Roundup Ready corn.
In addition, sequences known to be present in Roundup Ready soy (which is engineered so that it can be doused in Monsanto’s herbicide of the same name) was present as well.

On the topic of glyphosate, by the way, it is my belief that many people who mistakenly think they’re allergic to gluten are actually being poisoned by the glyphosate pesticide that’s commonly sprayed on wheat harvests as a drying agent.
Non-organic wheat is almost universally contaminated with glyphosate, a cancer-causing weed killer chemical that permeates the wheat berries and persists in wheat flour. If you are eating non-organic breads, pastries, sandwich buns or even bagels, you’re eating glyphosate.

Is saturated fat really the health hazard it’s been made out to be? Dr. Aseem Malhotra is an interventional cardiologist consultant in London, U.K., who gained quite a bit of publicity after the publication of his peer-reviewed editorial1 in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) in 2013.
In it, he seriously challenges the conventional view on saturated fats, and reviews how recent studies have failed to find any significant association between saturated fat and cardiovascular risk.
In fact, Malhotra reports that two-thirds of people admitted to hospitals with acute myocardial infarction have completely normal cholesterol levels. Malhotra, founder of Action on Sugar, also works as an adviser to the U.K.’s National Obesity Forum.
“My focus has been, ‘what can we do as individuals collectively (the medical profession) to help curb demand on the health system?’” he says. “A lot of that is being driven by diet-related diseases.
According to the Lancet Global Burden of Disease Reports, poor diets now contribute to more disease and death than physical activities — smoking and alcohol combined …
As an interventional cardiologist, we can do life-saving procedures with people who have heart attacks through heart surgery. But to be honest, rather than saving them from drowning, I’d rather they wouldn’t be thrown into the river in the first place. This is really where my focus has shifted.
I think for many of us, as clinicians moving more towards intervention, I think the realization that what we can do in medicine is really quite limited at the treatment end and actually the whole ‘prevention is better than cure’ phrase is very true.”
Hospitals and Medical Personnel Are Far From Paragons of Health
Malhotra’s epiphany that something was wrong with the system came rather early. While working as a resident in cardiology, he performed an emergency stenting procedure on a man in his 50s who’d recently suffered a heart attack.
The following morning, Malhotra spoke to the man, giving him the usual advice about quitting smoking and improving his diet.
“Just when I was telling about healthy diet, how important that was, he was actually served burger and fries by the hospital. He said to me, ‘Doctor, how do you expect me to change my lifestyle when you’re serving me the same crap that brought me in here in the first place?’”
Looking around, he realized that a lot of healthcare professionals are overweight or obese, and hospitals serve sick patients junk food. He believes one of the first things that really needs to happen is to set a good example in hospitals.
“The hospital environment should be one that promotes good health, not exacerbates bad health,” he says. His journey began with an email to celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who did a lot of work campaigning for improved food in school canteens. Malhotra asked Oliver for ideas on how to improve hospital food.
“A couple of years later, I ended up going to the British Medical Association Annual Conference. I put a motion forward saying there should be a policy from the BMA to ban the selling of junk food in hospitals. It got an overwhelming majority vote.”
Diet and lifestyle changes are particularly important in light of the fact that medical errors and properly prescribed medications are the third most common cause of death after heart disease and cancer. Overmedication is a particularly serious problem among the elderly, who tend to suffer more side effects.
“Part of that is because there are very powerful vested interests that push drugs,” Malhotra says. “They even coax academic institutions and guideline bodies. People aren’t getting all the information to make decisions, whether or not they should take medications …
This is a major problem, especially [since] we’ve neglected or detracted from lifestyle changes, which are going to be much more impactful on your health and without side effects.”

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and spent years working for the government. He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was writing called “The Slow Poisoning of America”.
In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have to create them. They make these creatures morbidly obese by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even have a name for the fat rodents they create: ‘MSG-Treated Rats.’

In the US, July is National Watermelon Month, so named not only because a cool, refreshing slice of watermelon represents the epitome of summer, but also because watermelon harvests peak this month.1
Watermelon is now the most-consumed melon in the US (followed by cantaloupe and honeydew). This cousin to cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash is thought to have originated in Egypt close to 5,000 years ago, where it is depicted in hieroglyphics.
Today, upwards of 300 watermelon varieties are grown in the US and Mexico (although only about 50 are popular).2 You may think you know everything there is to know about this summertime fruit, but allow me to surprise you… watermelon is more than just delicious… it’s a super-healthy addition to your diet (in moderation, of course).
You just need to be careful when eating any melon, including watermelon to follow the advice of Wayne Pickering in my interview. Eat melon alone or leave it alone because it will make your stomach groan. So ideally, no food 30 minutes before or after eating melons.

Breastfeeding rates continue to rise in the US. In 2011, the most recent year for which data is available, 79 percent of newborn infants started breastfeeding.1This is wonderful news, as breastfeeding offers life-long health benefits, not just for the child, but for the mother as well.
Many have been misled by infant-formula maketing
Many women do not have access to the truth about breastfeeding and have been misled by infant-formula marketing to believe they must spend thousands of dollars a year to provide the best nutrition for their babies.
In reality (and barring any extreme exceptions such as certain transmittable diseases or drug use), breast milk is the best food for babies, period.
As reported by the World Health Organization (WHO), breastfeeding is the “normal way” of providing infants with the nutrients they need to grow and develop. They continue:
“Virtually all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information, and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large. Colostrum, the yellowish, sticky breast milk produced at the end of pregnancy, is recommended by WHO as the perfect food for the newborn, and feeding should be initiated within the first hour after birth.
Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond.”
Breastfed Babies Grow into More Successful Adults
Proper nutrition in infancy has lasting effects on health and well-being. A study of nearly 6,000 babies followed from birth until they turned 30 years old found that those who were breastfed had increased intelligence, longer schooling, and higher earning as adults.2

According toMedical Xpress, the average American consumes nearly 20 teaspoons, or about 78 grams, of sugar daily, which is far more than the maximum level recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA).
One of the worst things you can do to your body is feed it sugar — not necessarily natural sugar like the kind found in fruit, but refined sugar. A team of scientists from the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF) recently pored through more than 8,000 scientific papers on how sugar affects the body and came to the conclusion that it not only makes people fat but also makes them sick.

So … best kick your sugar habit if you have one!
Find a suitable natural sweetener to replace sugar, and whatever you do don’t head for the chemical sweeteners like aspartame which will do you even more harm than what you’re replacing! Cut it down gradually until you’re free. Remember too it’s addictive so it can take a while depending on your endurance abilities. However you do it it’s going to improve your health. On that the evidence is pretty clear.
Here we have a pediatrics journal dissuading mothers from breast feeding because it interferes with vaccine delivery and the introduction of GM foods. We need to be asking ourselves here, how can this be reasonable & normal? If natural practices like breastfeeding and home schooling among other things (as the article sets out) interfere with vaccination & GM food – there you have a warning bell. Right there. This is NOT NORMAL. We have for years been weaned onto bottles of formula being best, now your freedom of choice is being even further eroded – and not so subtly at that. And this from the a journal of pediatrics!! Our so called experts on children. How can a needle with chemicals (in ever increasing proportions and toxicity) and canned formula surpass a mother’s breast milk to promote a healthy immune system? Very well if children’s health had improved over recent decades however the complete opposite is true. Vaccines have been linked by certain Doctors to the growing rate of Autism among other things. Pediatrics Journal says to stop calling breastfeeding natural
From examiner.com – a new article in the journal Pediatrics is calling on health professionals to stop saying that breastfeeding is natural, arguing that doing so gives the impression that natural parenting practices are healthier. The authors have started a public campaign to end the positive use of the word natural, claiming that it is associated with such “problematic” practices as home birth, homeschooling and the rejection of GMO foods, and that natural parenting movements are interfering with vaccination efforts.
“Building on this critical work, we are concerned about breastfeeding promotion that praises breastfeeding as the “natural” way to feed infants. This messaging plays into a powerful perspective that “natural” approaches to health are better… Promoting breastfeeding as “natural” may be ethically problematic, and, even more troublingly, it may bolster this belief that “natural” approaches are presumptively healthier.”
The authors are especially concerned that promoting natural practices such as breastfeeding will harm vaccination rates, since many parents who follow natural parenting practices also delay or decline vaccinesfor their children. Thy also cite other examples of the “fallacy” that natural choices are intrinsically better, including the rejection of GMO foods, the preference for organic over conventionally grown foods and concerns over water fluoridation.
More than 90% of all soybean, cotton and corn acreage in the United States is used to grow genetically modified crops. Other popular and FDA approved genetically modified food crops include sugar beets, alfalfa, canola, papaya, summer squash, apples that don’t brown and bruise-free potatoes.
However, if you have been led to believe that genetically modified foods were one of the main reasons why the world was enjoying food with less pesticide residues, you are being misled – the fact is, GMOs replaced one class of harmful pesticides with something more poisonous – neonicotinoids, dicamba, 2,4-D, DDT, glyphosate and its family of products including Round Up – and therefore ended up doing more harm than good.

Monsanto and Gates Foundation Pressure Kenya to Lift Ban on GMOs
