“Experts warned that eating this GE wheat could lead to significant changes in the way glucose and carbohydrates are stored in the human body, which could be potentially deadly for children and lead to serious illness in adults. Yet despite the seriousness of these findings, regulators are ignoring and dismissing such warnings. According to the Institute of Science in Society,10 the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has approved at least five such GE food products already.”
The more we learn about genetically engineered (GE) foods, the clearer the dangers become. I’ve warned you of the potential dangers of GE foods for many years now, as I was convinced that the artificial combining of plants with genes from wildly different kingdoms is bound to cause problems.
As the years roll on, such suspicions are becoming increasingly validated. In recent weeks, we’ve not only learned that GE corn is in no way comparable to natural corn in terms of nutrition, we’re also discovering the ramifications of dousing our crops with large amounts of glyphosate — the active ingredient in Monsanto’s broad-spectrum herbicide Roundup.
GE crops are far more contaminated with glyphosate than conventional crops, courtesy of the fact that they’re engineered to withstand extremely high levels of Roundup without perishing along with the weed.
A new peer-reviewed report authored by Anthony Samsel, a retired science consultant, and a long time contributor to the Mercola.com Vital Votes Forum and Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has fortunately received quite a bit of mainstream media attention.
Their findings, along with the development of another breed of “gene silencing” crops, makes the need for labeling all the more urgent, and the advice to buy certified organic all the more valid.
NZ used to be GE free until 2000 when GM corn was planted in several locations throughout NZ. Helen Clarke then PM found out about it and ordered them pulled up … (corn gate it was known as) then through corporate persuasion presumably she caved. The crops were left til full term and harvest and who knows how many of our own crops were contaminated? They then raised the percentage bar of acceptance in our country. By increments is how these people work. For a full exposé read Nicky Hager’s ‘Seeds of Distrust’. (See also Foreword & Chapter 1).
Rats from Professor Seralini’s experiment that were fed GM Corn for two years. Monsanto, when they first released Roundup tested glyphosate on rats for the required 90 days only, not long enough for tumours to grow … still think it’s safe? WHO after briefly deciding it was a ‘probable carcinogen’ has now backtracked, like our PM in 2000, & deemed glyphosate is safe
When you’re done watching the video below, check out our Glyphosate pages for local info on that chemical in your (not) GE free NZ’s favourite farming and garden herbicide Roundup. It is an integral part of the whole GMO package. The stuff is slathered over everything everywhere here in NZ like there is no tomorrow… roadsides, berms, parks, gardens, you name it. And no warning signs posted either. It’s now been deemed safe (again) after a short foray into official recognition of the health risks courtesy of WHO saying it was ‘probably carcinogenic’. However, the tumours on the rats in the ground breaking study by Professor Séralini are evidence enough for me to decline. The video of that experiment is on our Glyphosate page. And by the way, because Monsanto are telling us it is safe to eat, they’re not required to label it in many places. It is already in our food chain because it’s fed to animals and is in many processed foods. Soy and corn that is not labeled organic is likely GM. Here is a short video that tells you the top 12 foods to avoid if you want to avoid GMOs.

Propylene oxide is classified as hazardous to health under the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, for its acute toxicity, ability to cause irritation, and its mutagenic and carcinogenic properties.
There is no doubt that almonds were once one of the healthiest foods on Earth; there are many health benefits of almonds. But before you buy almonds today, here is something you should know: most of the almonds sold in the U.S. have been fumigated with propylene oxide, a chemical that even the CDC has admitted causes cancer.
In 2007, it became illegal for raw almonds to be sold in the U.S. What brought about this law was an outbreak of Salmonella in Canada that was traced back to an almond grower in California. The California Department of Health Services stepped in to help this grower increase the safety of his almonds, and that appeared to be the end of it.
But a second surprising outbreak of Salmonella occurred shortly after, and several government agencies got together to mandate treatment so there would be no more Salmonella outbreaks. If you are thinking how strange it is that Salmonella would occur in something as dry as almonds, you are not alone.
Check out our pages on food additives or search for related articles under ‘categories’. It is so important to check what is in your food nowadays … check where it is sourced from. Preferably buy organic. Everything is super-treated to eliminate bugs and the like, with scant regard it seems to the effects of the treatments. Dying from the bugs and bacteria is more easily linked to the cause I suspect, than dying from long slow cumulative poisoning by chemicals. This is the nature of corporations. With their bevies of well paid lawyers they always have an out. Their concern is profits not people.
An excellent and informative video where experts (two Medical Doctors & an expert in Rongoa – Maori medicinal plants) are discussing the effects of chemicals, particularly 1080 in our environment and its uptake by plants. As you will see there has been little research to cover many areas of risk. By the Graf Boys this is important information to have. Bearing in mind the authorities are telling us it’s safe as houses, educate yourself and make an informed decision yourself. Gone are the days of believing the official word … that word is now corporately controlled and profits a priority. These three men share some very interesting information. EWR
Dr Peter Scanlon and Dr Sean Weaver (Environmental studies – Victoria University) discuss the low-dose effects of 1080 poison. Jim Doherty discusses the effects of 1080 poison on rongoa plants (maori medicinal plants) …
If you are new to the 1080 poisoning program, here is a good article to start with …
A must watch also is Poisoning Paradise, the doco made by the GrafBoys (banned from screening on NZ TV, yet a 4x international award winner). Their website is tv-wild.com. Their doco is a very comprehensive overview with the independent science to illustrate the question marks that remain over the use of this poison. There are links also on our 1080 resources page to most of the groups, pages, sites etc that will provide you with further information.
Check out the 1080 pages at the main menu, particularly the sub tab, ‘suspected 1080 poisoning cases’. Finally, remember what the retired MD Charlie Baycroft said recently …‘if you die from 1080 poisoning, nobody will know because the Ministry of Health is bullying NZ Doctors into not testing for 1080′.
Note we don’t condone or advocate violence, & unlike those who support the use of 1080 poison we do not support cruelty to animals. Note it can take up to two days for animals to die an agonizing death from 1080. Now that is violence.
This is kind of shocking isn’t it? All these years we’ve been told no fat, when sugar is the greater culprit in ruining our health. We need to be vigilant … profits over people is the corporate mantra. Guard your health carefully & question everything. Remember too, sugar’s been labeled one of the building blocks of cancer. EnvirowatchRangitikei
myeclinik.com A newly discovered cache of internal documents reveals that the sugar industry downplayed the risks of sugar in the 1960s.
In the 1960s, the sugar industry funded research that downplayed the risks of sugar and highlighted the hazards of fat, according to a newly published article in JAMA Internal Medicine.
by Camila Domonoske
The article draws on internal documents to show that an industry group called the Sugar Research Foundation wanted to “refute” concerns about sugar’s possible role in heart disease. The SRF then sponsored research by Harvard scientists that did just that. The result was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1967, with no disclosure of the sugar industry funding.
Unfortunately, Vitamin A rice is a hoax; the problem is that vitamin A rice will not remove vitamin A deficiency (VAD). It will seriously aggravate it. It is a technology that fails in its promise.

“Golden Rice”: A technology for creating Vitamin A deficiency.
Golden rice has been heralded as the miracle cure for malnutrition and hunger of which 800 million members of the human community suffer.
Herbicide resistant and toxin producing genetically engineered plants can be objectionable because of their ecological and social costs. But who could possibly object to rice engineered to produce vitamin A, a deficiency found in nearly 3…
It just gets sillier doesn’t it? Reminds me of the pregnant woman recently who declined the TDAP vaccination … whose Doctor had never read the insert saying it had neither been tested for the unborn nor proven safe for under 10 year olds ! The astute young mother demanded to see the insert then read it out slowly to her Doc and his nursing staff. The Doc was very shocked as indeed he should be with the fees he charges and the lives he’s trusted with protecting.
DOC warns 1080 is DEADLY to dogs
Similar scenario here. They’re recommending you can eat 1080 while the manufacturer warns quite clearly to wear goggles and a mask while handling it … ‘may cause reproductive or developmental damage’. They don’t always though (wear protective apparatus). See the workers in the video further down. And DOC (those people entrusted with protecting our wildlife among other things) write on their signs, ‘deadly to dogs’.

Hmmm. Same again as the glyphosate debacle, the product that we’re told is drinkable. Harmless as dishwash liquid farmers were told back in the 1970s when they first sold it to them. (Same people who made DDT and Agent Orange and told us it was safe). And have you seen the employees handling the product? Full overalls, gloves and masks (at least if you’re not in a Third World country … they’re poisoned there … by Western corporations, with impunity). If you doubt this read ‘The Corporate Crime of the Century’.
They spray it on your food. You know, the GE variety that’s so safe there’s no need to label it? Just how gullible can people be? The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies 1080 as ‘Extremely Hazardous’, most countries ban it outright. DOC’s signs certainly don’t indicate it’s safe as crisps. ‘Do not touch’ let alone eat. WHO also labeled glyphosate as being a probable carcinogen … for a while at least … until corporate persuasion convinced them Prof Séralani’s rats would’ve probably got cancerous tumours anyway.

What else would you expect? This from the same scientific/corporate club that told us smoking was good for us! Good for corporate pockets would be more to the point. If it weren’t so serious it would be laughable. Crisps with your ciggies anybody? (Do watch the video & research 1080 for yourself … check out our 1080 pages for links to what mainstream media isn’t telling you … under ‘Chemicals’ on the menu). EnvirowatchRangitikei
I find this particularly shocking. 533% MORE! What could our authorities be thinking? Do their babies eat this poison? Best to prepare your own organic vegetables Kiwis. At least then you know what your baby is eating. Some of those pesticides are known carcinogens and remember the poison is cumulative. EnvirowatchRangitikei
“New Zealand baby food had 533% more pesticide residues than the EU”
Safe Food Campaign Media release Safe Food Campaign 28 May 2015
PESTICIDES TO STAY IN BABY FOOD
Pesticides are to stay in baby food, in spite of a petition presented to parliament. The Primary Production Committee decided today not to act on the Safe Food Campaign petition asking for zero tolerance for pesticide residues in baby food, even though such directives are currently in place in the European Union.
The Committee acknowledged the public interest to New Zealanders and the concern felt about toxins in food, especially for parents of new-borns and young children. However they did not call for a more extensive baby food residue surveillance programme, as suggested by the Safe Food Campaign.
“Every five to six years a mere eight samples of four different kinds of baby food are analysed for pesticide residues,” said Alison White, Co-convenor of the Safe Food Campaign, “and this is absolutely inadequate.”
“Certain pesticides, including some detected in New Zealand baby food, have been found to be linked to cancer progression and endocrine or hormonal disruption,” said Dr Heli Matilainen of the Safe Food Campaign.
Pesticides were found in over 30% of baby food samples in the last Total Diet Survey in 2009. Ms White contrasted this to the EU: “New Zealand baby food had 533% more pesticide residues. The EU had an average of less than 6% of baby food samples positive for pesticide residues over 6 years.”
“We want to make parents more aware of the dangers that certain pesticide residues pose to babies and young children,” Ms White stated. “To this end, we are running a campaign the week of the 15 June to protect our children from toxic pesticides here in New Zealand, following the pesticide awareness campaign of Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific. More details will be available on our website.”
Since the powers that be refuse to label their supposedly ‘safe’ wares, we are forced to do our own homework. (If they’re so safe then why can’t they label them?) They can’t be trusted with profits their bottom line. Please read up on GMOs. They aren’t safe! EnvirowatchRangitikei
I purchased pork chops recently, and specifically chose the brand that advertises itself as being humane to its animals. Nice grassed grazing (for their chooks and pigs), outdoor huts with lots of hay. Definitely free range which is refreshing in a world where we’re seeing the steady growth of factory farming. The pigs and chooks looked happy indeed.
Not having done too much homework of late on this front, as in I buy organic when I can but mostly restrict my meat intake … I thought I’d better contact the manager and just check, do they feed their animals non GE food?
Well, the reply confirmed my suspicions and of course confirmed for me, no more pork, or any other meat, that’s not organic. Occasionally I obtain produce … vegetables, fruit and eggs, from growers who don’t use sprays of any kind which is next best to organic and less costly. In the instance of the pork, the manager told me he couldn’t rule out that the pigs weren’t eating GE feed as some of their soya feed is sourced from the US which he acknowledged meant it could quite well be GE. So … they are working on getting alternative feed but as yet … no … no guarantees. To recap here, it is definitely great to see farmers treating their animals well, housing them properly with room to roam and forage … definitely a huge improvement on the crates and tightly enclosed concrete and steel pens that occasionally feature on the news when animal activists expose them. So kudos to this farmer on that aspect. However, the GE food is definitely of concern, and especially if the animal is destined for your plate.
A couple of years ago I read a local book called ‘Seeds of Distrust’ by respected local investigative journalist, Nicky Hager. Our country, good old New Zealand, is touted world wide as being amongst other things ‘clean and green’, ‘pristine’, ‘unspoilt’ (the Rangitikei’s official logo), ‘GE free’ and even ‘nuclear free’ (it helps attract business). Interestingly, as an aside on nuclear free, radiation levels have been recorded at danger levels in the South Island. Fukushima possibly? That is definitely worse than what we’re told and definitely not all sorted by any stretch of the imagination.
Anyway, Hager’s book details the events surrounding the planting of GE sweet corn in several locations here in 2000. When this came to light the current Prime Minister at the time, Helen Clarke, ordered these be pulled up. As is the usual with such events, some discussion went on for a time and eventually it turns out, the corn was not pulled up, but was left to come to full harvest. And our threshold of acceptability for GE content was raised as well. Problem solved as it were. Thanks to big-business lobbying (corporate persuasion) and to Helen Clarke, the GE sweet corn plants were allowed to spread their pollen and were harvested for sale in NZ and overseas. The rest of the contaminated seed batch was also approved for planting and the public not told. Do you still believe everything the Government tells you?
This has been a good reminder for me, don’t buy supermarket meat, or any meat that isn’t organic. Unless you know who bred and killed it. Otherwise you may likely be ingesting GE food.
I’ve replied again to the company that ‘can’t guarantee’ the pigs don’t eat GE feed, with a link to one of Jeffrey Smith’s videos (included below) about what the GE food does to animals’ livers. The animals are reported to smell highly putrid when slaughtered and their livers are obviously diseased. Which does remind me of the recent furore in the South Island when around 200 cows died after eating swedes that are herbicide tolerant. Predictably the link between swedes and these deaths has been all but wiped off the radar but that’s a topic for another post. Herbicide tolerant by the way, means that the crop can be sprayed with herbicide (as is the case with GE crops that are sprayed with glyphosate) killing the weeds but not the crop. The crop retains residues of the herbicide and of course whoever/whatever eats the crop ingests the herbicide as well. This is why glyphosate is being found in human blood, urine and breast milk, even in people who don’t use glyphosate. It is in our environment.
You can learn more about the glyphosate link to GE food on the Glyphosate page here on this site. I plan to include organic and GE sections to the Food page shortly. Another excellent resource, the one that educated me as to what Genetic Engineering of our food is all about, is the book ‘Hard to Swallow’ by Jeffrey Smith (who is featured on the video here).
With all the so called debate raging still about glyphosate & GM food (really not rocket science when you read the research, they just split hairs in the interests of corporate greed) this is an excellent listen. When somebody who has been part of the industry, switches sides & speaks out, we need to sit up and take notice. One glimpse of Prof Seralini’s rats was enough to convince me that glyphosate is not safe. But no they continue to defend it to the hilt in spite of all the evidence. As always do the research and ignore the debunkers who abound in MSM. All also corporately owned. EnvirowatchRangitikei
Dr. Thierry Vrain, former genetic engineer and soil biologist with Agriculture Canada, spoke with us today about his concerns with genetically engineered crops (GMOs) and more importantly, the use of Glyphosate (RoundUp). Dr. Vrain’s background in the field of genetic engineering (for 30 years), makes him an expert on this gene technology. He explained how a cell is genetically engineered and what happens after this random insertion process through a gene gun and how it can have unknown effects.
Since leaving Agriculture Canada 12 years ago, he has learned much more about the process of genetic engineering and the BT process (insect resistant) and the HT (herbicide resistant) crops that make up about 500 million acres. His primary concern at this time is the widespread use of Glyphosate which is a powerful herbicide, mineral chelator and a patented antibiotic. Dr. Vrain stated when speaking about Glyphosate:
“It’s almost as if the entire population of North American is on a low-grade antibiotic diet day in day out from birth, everyday, so this is the reality.”
The deviousness of corporate greed knows no end. Check out what the sugar industry has been up to, leading us all down the garden path with our health. As always follow the money. Sugar is evil at best in my opinion. It has been traced to many a health problem particularly cancer. Educate yourself and protect your immune system naturally. I should mention, don’t rely on mainstream media to give you the data on independent research. Go to the research of those who had nothing to gain from their results in terms of money. There you will be more likely to find truth. EnvirowatchRangitikei
According to newly uncovered documents, in the 1960s the sugar industry began funding research to cast doubt on sugar’s role in heart disease, mainly by pointing the finger at fat instead.
A recently published analysis based on correspondence between a sugar trade group and researchers from Harvard University clearly demonstrates how food and beverage makers actively shape the public’s understanding of nutrition for their own financial gain.
The Evidence
In 1964 a group known as The Sugar Association went over a campaign to address any “negative attitudes toward sugar” after studies linking sugar with heart disease began to emerge, according to documents that were dug up from the now public archives. The following year the group approved a project called “Project 226,” which involved paying researchers from Harvard the equivalent of todays $48,900 USD for an article reviewing scientific literature, supplying the materials they wanted reviewed and reviewing drafts of the article prior to publication.
The result was an article, published in 1967, which concluded there was “no doubt” that reducing cholesterol and saturated fat was the only dietary guideline necessary to prevent heart disease effectively. The consistency of the literature on fat and cholesterol were overstated by researchers, and studies on sugar were severely downplayed, according to the analysis.
“Many people have their favorite brand but are unaware that many antiperspirants are actually drugs that change the physiology of the body. These antiperspirants contain an active ingredient that is scientifically validated to accelerate brain aging and cause Alzheimer’s disease. This drug is often rubbed into the sweat glands and taken up into the body” … NaturalNews
“Deodorants work by killing the bacteria that live on the skin. They are often scented to provide consumers with a pleasant fragrance. Commercial deodorants often contain hormone-disrupting chemical fragrances that absorb into the skin and disrupt the endocrine system. Natural deodorants use plant-based essential oils as an alternative to the chemicals. Many of these essentials oils give the natural deodorantmore power, because they possess antibacterial properties that help drive away the bacteria in the sweat glands that cause the actual stink.”
Food was something up until the 1940s folk just grew out in the back yard … supermarkets were a new invention. Still, many gardeners kept going well into the 1970s, and growing your own food is currently making a huge come back. I recall as a child, unlike in today’s supermarkets, the shop owners went out back and got all the items on your list and put them in a brown cardboard box or paper bags. We also collected raw milk in a billy from the local Dairy and drank it, and believe it or not one of us died from doing that. Neither did I ever hear one report of food poisoning from raw milk. Today our milk is so heated and treated and added to, much of the nutrients have disappeared, and sadly, some countries have banned raw altogether. Check out the health benefits of raw milk: http://www.raw-milk-facts.com/raw_milk_health_benefits.htmlhttp://www.drdeborahmd.com/health-benefits-raw-milk
I recall as a child, every morning around 5 am awakening to the sound of my father chipping away the weeds in his vegetable garden just outside my window, before breakfast and the working day. He grew everything we ate. And he didn’t spray our vegetables with anything either. He also saved the seed from one plant that he left for that purpose and of course there was an abundance for next season and the neighbours. Nature supplies abundantly although Monsanto would have us believe that GE crops can do better.

(They recently tried suing the Guatemalan people for saving their seed, something they’ve done for hundreds of years). Corporations back in the day had not gotten blatantly greedy enough yet to patent seeds. They have now of course and are busy gobbling up all the companies to tighten their hold on humanity. Then there’s the Food Bill that aims to stop all this sharing and caring by passing our veg over the back fence. What a blasphemy to humanity this is. (A note on the Guatemalan fiasco, this is due to a trade agreement a … think TPPA … the signs are on the wall).

Here’s an illustration of what one person’s research into hidden environmental hazards can turn up. You would think people would be pleased to be warned however not so. In this instance nobody wanted to hear why their town’s death rate was 80 times higher than anywhere else in the US. I encounter similar disbelief when I relate the hidden dangers of Smart Meters and other RF radiation risks, and chemicals in our food, water and air. Too often people only begin to take this all seriously when bad health strikes. We need to remember again, corporations are about profits for their shareholders and these come first. Any environmental risks are only disclosed (if at all) in very fine print which few read. Corporations are not devoted to the good health of their buying customers … we the people need to fulfill that mandate. Be warned.

Remember, the effects of these tiny amounts of chemicals may not show up in your health for many years. The accumulation is slow … but sure. Read a book called ‘The Politics of Cancer’ by Dr Samuel Epstein written long ago, in the 1970s in fact. Yes, it was known way back then that environmental factors played a large part in our vulnerability to cancer but the health industry continues to act mystified and carries on asking for your donations to research endlessly for cures. There are in fact many cancer fighting protocols that have been successful but you are never going to hear about them in mainstream media. Do some research … there is plenty of information out there now … on the internet that is. And, additionally, there are alternative products you can buy … without the toxic additives … they may cost a little more, like organic food, however you will save in medical bills later.
Up until the 1950s folks grew their own food as a matter of course. It was what you did. Supermarkets kind of changed that but folks are catching on to the fact that processed foods are frequently devoid of nutrients and our fresh produce is sprayed liberally with toxic chemicals bringing with them a myriad of health risks. The financial squeeze is also a motivating factor and people are getting their fingers in the soil and producing their own food for cheap.
Here are some examples of that in the North Island, one is in the far North, and another in Hawkes Bay, both beautiful warm regions for growing things. A third I noticed recently on Facebook in Palmerston North, closer to home, illustrating the wonderful value of communities getting together and growing food… and sharing. That’s how our forbears used to do it.

Think that the label that says “organically grown” has anything to do with the packaging, storage, and transport of that product to stores?
What if I told you that cow, pig, and chicken collagen is now used in place of wax on your fruits and vegetables, among many other things much worse than you can probably imagine?
And what if then I told you, as with most atrocities that happen now-a-days, that this is all approved by the FDA…
Since the early 12th century, there has been a tradition of applying wax onto the skins of fruits and vegetables for longer storage life. Today, that tradition is being carried on with a whole new generation of chemicals and compounds that are genetically designed to accomplish the same goal. But in these modern times, the health and well-being of the consumer of that apple is not…

Reading this article from preventdisease.com, a heart surgeon with 25 years experience – has to cause you surely to ask the question – ‘what is wrong here?’ As the saying goes, something is not right in the state of Denmark. Pays to research and ask questions. We have a similar scenario going on with cancer treatment. We have professionals who also know something is wrong, who many times stand to lose their certification for going against the flow. The fact is, the medical profession changed its focus from natural healing to pharmaceuticals back in the 1920s and 30s courtesy of the Rockefeller fraternity. As a consequence instead of treating the root cause of our illnesses, we are treating the symptoms … with a pill … at great profit to the pharmaceutical industry. If you don’t believe this watch thetruthaboutcancer website’s documentaries where all of this is confirmed in interviews by medical professionals. As a heart surgeon with 25 years experience, having performed over 5,000 open-heart surgeries, today is my day to right the wrong with medical and scientific fact … The only accepted therapy was prescribing medications to lower cholesterol and a diet that severely restricted fat intake. The latter of course we insisted would lower cholesterol and heart disease. Deviations from these recommendations were considered heresy and could quite possibly result in malpractice…The long-established dietary recommendations have created epidemics of obesity and diabetes, the consequences of which dwarf any historical plague in terms of mortality, human suffering and dire economic consequences… The cholesterol theory led to the no-fat, low-fat recommendations that in turn created the very foods now causing an epidemic of inflammation. Mainstream medicine made a terrible mistake when it advised people to avoid saturated fat in favor of foods high in omega-6 fats. We now have an epidemic of arterial inflammation leading to heart disease and other silent killers….
Despite the fact that 25% of the population takes expensive statin medications and despite the fact we have reduced the fat content of our diets, more Americans will die this year of heart disease than ever before …”

People have been separated from the land planet wide, the root of many of our ills. Less than 15 pc have ever owned the land. This is a crime/injustice that’s been covered up. Read Kevin Cahill’s ‘Who Owns the Planet’ or watch videos of his lectures. Very revealing. The Queen owns one sixth on her own. And has been well active in confiscating lands for eons. Indigenous peoples were frequently made to work for the colonizer by introducing taxes only payable in the colonizer’s currency … presto. Off the land, off traditional means of survival, growing food. Now today paupers on their previously owned lands and growing food for agribusiness. This is why the so called ‘third world’ starves. For an expose on that read Susan George’s ‘How the Other Half Dies’.
In summary, our spiritual connection with the land has been severed, along with our ability to properly nourish our bodies with fresh living food …. and the roots of this state of affairs can be found largely in capitalism and greed for profits … where earth’s land, peoples and resources have all been co-opted for that purpose.
The feature image is from Taihape’s (NZ) Vanessa’s blog here. She is also on our page here along with more info on Ron Finley (also on Youtube) who is quoted as saying ” Growing your own food is like printing your own money”.
From Ecowatch: When you drink a glass of water, you expect it to be clean and pure, not contaminated with invisible toxic chemicals. But nationwide testing has found that 6.5 million Americans in 27 states are drinking water tainted by an industrial compound that was used for decades to make Teflon. The chemical, known as PFOA, has been detected in 94 public water systems. The amounts are small, but new research indicates that it can be hazardous even at the tiniest doses. PFOA and closely related fluorinated chemicals—including PFOS, once used to make Scotchgard—can cause cancer, birth defects and heart disease and weaken the immune system….
Here is more evidence that the poor don’t matter in a market driven capitalist environment. In a wealthy environment you have your food delivered or you drive to the shop. In a poor neighbourhood you either walk for miles or take a bus and can carry home only a small amount. These neighbourhoods typically have no shortage of liquor outlets or fast food stores. Ever enterprising predatory capitalists always milk the poor of the little they do have. The result of course is poor health. In this doco we see a grocery store has become a dialysis centre & no fresh food stores for three miles… “an epidemic” they say … “a global problem” …
“Across Virginia – from Hampton to Richmond, Petersburg to Lynchburg to Wise County and all points in between – approximately 17.8 percent of Virginia’s population live in food desert. This documentary was produced by VSU as part of a study on food insecurity in the College of Agriculture. (Produced by Jesse Vaughan & Cedric Owens – Co-Producer Dr. Jewel Hairston – Narrator Daphne Maxwell Reid)”
It can take some effort to find a ‘healthy’ commercially-prepared substitute for cow’s milk. One will go through a number of different milk products before even finding which is best; but know this, there is an alternative to conventional cow’s milk that stands out above the rest.
For those who are growing their food here is a great idea that draws from ancient cultures, originating in Northern Africa. This serves to conserve water and is very simply demonstrated here with two videos. Follow the links for how to make your own olla from two terracotta pots. Note in the comments below the article, someone there uses plastic bottles with holes in sides and bottom … you’ll get it when you read the articles.
Happy gardening. In NZ’s neck of the global woods, Spring is here & being a little colder where I live, nevertheless folks are getting ready for Summer gardens.
“Meet Dr. Sebi, a pathologist, biochemist and herbalist. He came to the U.S. from Honduras and is on a mission to heal humanity. As it happens, he has been curing some of the most deadly diseases on the planet for almost 30 years. AIDS, cancer, diabetes, lupus and epilepsy are just a few of the ailments he has completely reversed. In fact, he is so committed to his work that he took on the Attorney General of New York in a Supreme Court trial — and won….The judge presiding over the case requested that Dr. Sebi provide one witness for each disease he claimed to have cured. When he instead furnished 70 witnesses to support his argument — showing without a doubt that he did in truth heal all the diseases listed in the ad — the judge declared the doctor not guilty on all counts…”

It is well documented what GMOs do to the human body (see videos in this article) let alone the animals. (Liver disease is one effect). However, here we see how Monsanto (and WHO) manage to hoodwink the public by ensuring the testing period required is not long enough for any health effects to emerge … yet. As Prof Seralini discovered in his two year long research with lab rats. As to the animals, here in NZ our stock (who knows how much) is being fed GE feed. Two producers I’ve contacted here in NZ who are particularly more humane in their animal treatment couldn’t rule out some of the cheaper feed they acquire (making their businesses economically viable) ‘may’ contain GMOs given they are soy products. So … if they admit they possibly are feeding their stock GE food, then what of the larger factory farmed livestock where cost cutting is a primary objective? You can bet your bottom dollar they will be munching on GE feed. The Green Party has drawn this to the public’s attention numerous times.
“The WHO could have picked any arbitrary number of months to ensure that GMOs were safe, and make sure that the public wasn’t dining on food that would cause serious damage to their intestines, their livers, their reproductive organs, and their brains. But I suppose just THREE months will do just fine when experimenting with the global food supply and global population.”
