Adding to the evidence that backs many U.S. communities’ decisions to end water fluoridation, a recent study has found that fluoride within our water supply may be fueling thyroid issues experienced by millions of Americans, leading to depression and more.
After analyzing 98% of GP practices in England, the study found specifically that rates of hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) were 30% more likely in areas that fluoridated their water. In the study, it equated to approximately 15,000 needlessly suffering from the ailment.
As mentioned, hypothyroidism is an issue that affects millions – often without anyone knowing it. It’s an issue that can lead to depression, weight gain, fatigue, aching muscles, weakness, and much more. While there are a number of causes of hypothyroidism, as well as numerous hypothyroidism natural treatments, this recent study suggests that limiting fluoride ingestion is one many should consider.
“Findings We found that higher levels of fluoride in drinking water provide a useful contribution for predicting prevalence of hypothyroidism. We found that practices located in the West Midlands (a wholly fluoridated area) are nearly twice as likely to report high hypothyroidism prevalence in comparison to Greater Manchester (non-fluoridated area)”
Professor Stephen Peckham, of the University’s Centre for Health Service Studies (CHSS), said that research was ‘observational,’ and thus no definitive conclusions should be drawn about cause and effect. He also notes how other sources of fluoride were not taken into account, such as toothpaste, food, or other drinks.
In the end, professor Peckham does say that a switch to other approaches to protecting tooth health should be considered.
You can Prevent Fluoridate Ingestion, and Prevent Any Potential Damage
In the guise of protecting and strengthening our teeth, the U.S. government has been adding fluoride to public water supplies for decades. But due to health toxicity and health concerns, many communities have voted to end fluoridation locally. However, if your city hasn’t made the shift yet, don’t worry; you can still avoid ingesting this substance.
While helping to end water fluoridation is the most official way to end fluoride consumption, there are numerous measures you can take to not only avoid fluoride, but reverse the damage it might have done.
Start by investing in a high quality water filtration system that removes fluoride. The filter will note if it filters our fluoride or not, but if you don’t want to look, you can’t go wrong with a reverse osmosis system. Just be sure to add in some apple cider vinegar or Himalayan sea salt to re-mineralize the water.
Additionally, you can utilize selenium, tamarind, and especially iodine to combat fluoride exposure. A compound in the spice turmeric has even been found to attenuate neurotoxicity induced by fluoride, meaning that the spice turmeric can prevent and even reverse damage from exposure to toxic fluoride.

Those of us who put forward an alternative view to the prevailing orthodoxy on the virus or on vaccinations are being vilified, threatened and cancelled. This is not how science, or a functioning democracy, works.
I haven’t written for a while, sorry. Instead, I have been sorting out two complaints about my writing made to the General Medical Council (GMC). Also, a complaint from NHS England, and two irate phone calls from other doctors, informing me I shouldn’t make any negative comments about vaccines.
For those in other countries, or who don’t know about such things, doctors in the UK are ruled by many different organisations, all of whom feel able to make judgement and hand down various sanctions. The deadliest of them, the Spanish Inquisition if you like, is the GMC, who can strike you off the medical register and stop you working as a doctor. They have great power, with no oversight.
Prior to this, I had been phoned by, and attacked by, two journalists and a couple of fact-checking organisations that have sprung up which can decide your guilt or innocence with regard to any information about Covid-19. Of course, no one can check the fact-checkers. They are the self-appointed guardians of ‘truth’. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes – indeed. Who does guard the guardians?
How do you convince the “Vaccine Hesitant” and the downright “stuff your vaccine” brigade, to cross the line and change camps? Globally, millions of dollars are being poured into psychological research to work out exactly the Government messaging to “encourage” maximum vaccine uptake. Our Government is no different….listen and watch out and you’ll hear and see each and every one of these messages here in NZ. A recent US study of 20,000 people found the following four key messages were the way to move people into the pro Covid vaccination camp. 1. Helping Loved Ones …tapped into people’s desire to protect and support their friends and family. It made clear that vaccinating yourself can help your loved ones while being careful not to overstate the vaccine’s power to reduce or eliminate transmission. 2. Approved by Healthcare Workers…used the credibility and authority of healthcare workers as trusted messengers. The message emphasized how most people have demonstrated confidence in the vaccine by taking it themselves. 3. Getting Lives Back…drew on the powerful motivation to return to the activities and people they are missing, without promising that life will ever fully go back to “normal.” 4. Tested by Thousands….built trust in the vaccine development process, without getting bogged down in overly technical details or medical jargon. The message incorporated aspects of ‘social proof’ by indicating that millions of people have already taken the vaccine safely.
All four messages increased vaccine confidence and willingness to vaccinate by 3-4 percentage points, a relative increase of approximately 6%. If those increases translated to action, it would mean over 10 million more residents getting vaccinated in the US. Even more encouraging was the fact that the messages were effective for groups most affected by COVID-19. THE HELPING LOVED ONES MESSAGE INCREASED WILLINGNESS TO VACCINATE ACROSS ALL HESITANT GROUPS.
Never mind that this particular message is currently built on a hope and a dream….and a complete dearth of data proving this hopeful concept.
When considering the safety profile of the Covid 19 vaccines, you can broadly divide concerns into two camps. Short term safety….what are the potential safety risks in the hours, days, and up to six week post vaccine? Long term safety….what are the potential safety risks in the months and years post vaccine? Social media platforms abound with joyous posts stating “I had the vaccine and nothing more than a sore arm”. While I’m happy for these people that they have not experienced the severe illness, blood clots, strokes, heart attacks and neurological disorders which have been experienced by some in the days following their Covid 19 vaccine…I nevertheless wonder what may unfold for these happy folk in the years to come. Some brave and vocal scientists have raised the specter of slowly developing Auto Immune disease as a possible consequence of Covid 19 vaccination. Why? These vaccines (each in their own way) prime our immune system to recognise and then destruct the proteins found in the Sars Cov II spike. If the vaccine “works” our immune system is primed to seek and destroy these proteins….All well and good until you look a little closer and realise that these same primed antibodies are then also potentially primed to attack 28 different human tissues. Kind of like scud missiles with incorrect destination coordinates entered. In January 2021 researchers explored whether this “auto attack” (called auto immune disease) was just a theoretical risk, or something that we should be concerned about with Covid 19 vaccines. I was born and raised in Northeast Iowa and as a “Kennedy Kid” received advanced Doctorate scientific training through a program established by the JFK administration including Calculus and Particle Physics – a process that began when I was 12 years old. On December 1, 2020, the ex-Pfizer head of respiratory research Dr. Michael Yeadon and the lung specialist and former head of the public health department Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg filed an application with the EMA, the European Medicine Agency responsible for EU-wide drug approval, for the immediate suspension of all SARS CoV 2 vaccine studies, in particular the BioNtech/Pfizer study on BNT162b (EudraCT number 2020-002641-42).
Dr. Wodarg and Dr. Yeadon demand that the studies – for the protection of the life and health of the volunteers – should not be continued until a study design is available that is suitable to address the significant safety concerns expressed by an increasing number of renowned scientists against the vaccine and the study design.
Concern is growing that an innovative nanotech device developed at Johns Hopkins University may be used to secretly deliver the COVID19 vaccine to those people who are “vaccine hesitant.”

Government Corruption
The Telecommunications Act of 1996, section 704, gives the telecom industry free reign and prohibits opposition to wireless infrastructure based on environmental effects, which includes health effects. Thankfully, this prohibition is being challenged in court right now.

He completed his residency at LAC+USC Medical Center acquiring his Medical Doctorate, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, he was also a trained gastroenterologist and pathologist.
Dr. Strecker was a dedicated and selfless man who was passionate about his work, his patients, and the understanding and fighting of disease.
Dr. Strecker loved his family, had a genuine caring personality with a keen wit and a quick laugh. He enjoyed spending time on his plantation in Hawaii where he was planning to retire.
He is survived by Terri Minion Sim, daughter Caroline Strecker and grandson Noah Conway, sister-in- law Annetta Strecker, nephews Brad (Cindy) Strecker, Taylor (Kiki) Strecker, nieces Debra (Peter) Loft, and Sarah (Matt) Shields, Dee Dee Engert and many friends and medical associates.
He was predeceased by his parents John W. Strecker and Anna Margaret Strecker, brother’s John E. Strecker and Theodore A. Strecker.
Robert was taken from us way too soon and will be missed greatly by his family but also his patients both past, current and future.

Dr. Robert Strecker was America’s first well-credentialed AIDS-origin whistleblower opposing the plaque’s political imposition. His pioneering Strecker Memorandum records a scholarly presentation of research into early genetic engineering studies mutating viruses under U.S. Government and National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants.
Strecker unearthed unfathomable biotechnology experiments from which he concluded that HIV/AIDS sourced from bovine leukemia and sheep visna viruses recombined to create cancer triggers. His scholarly thesis, albeit suppressed and disparaged for missing the “chimpanzee-link,” was heavily attacked by media agents protecting government and industry culprits. Strecker shined the first light on the risks to public health from secret virus cancer experiments.
Robert Strecker was not alone, and it is unknown what, if any, influence he gained from his East German predecessor, Dr. Jakob Segal. Segal, and his supportive Soviet wife Lilly, were alienated and defamed similarly by Western presses when they drew attention to the man-made origin of AIDS theory. Their classic disparagement can be read here, as published by “Sage journals”–the founding member of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA). That yellow press was discredited for relying on the Journal of International Medical Research and “a false and intentionally flawed paper created and submitted by a reporter for the journal Science. That scandal demonstrated how severely corrupted the world of medical science has become, tainted by pseudoscience and propaganda to infect the mass mind and maintain the medical status quo to aid-and-abet petrochemical-pharmaceutical genocide.
The Segals, according to Western propaganda (i.e., counter-intelligence), were supposedly suckered into collaborating with Russian intelligence to spread falsehoods about AIDS being an American invention. According to the Sage Press’s yellow press, professor Segal was presented with forged documents that were claimed to have leaked from Fort Detrick, MD–America’s premier biological weapons testing center. Sage bemoaned “rumors” about the US military using humans in bioweapons experiments. Nonetheless, this is precisely what was done.
This was not “conspiracy theory. The U.S. Congressional Record included Frank Church’s committee hearings detailing what Sage’s propaganda suppressed in their following two paragraph quote:
“[A] story about spreading flu virus in San Francisco in 1955, where 1 person was presumed to have died. Another rumor told about another experiment in Tampa Bay, where 12 civilians were supposed to have died. Furthermore, official reports from the United States stated that the Central Intellegence Agency (CIA) had actually tested LSD on uninformed people. An official report revealed that syphilis had been administered on African American farm workers in Tuskagee between 1932 and 1972 in order to try the effect of penicillin on syphilis. There was, in other words some rumors, of which some are even true, already in circulation. From this point of view, another story about the origin of HIV would fit very well into the historical background. This background contributed largely to Dr Segal’s conviction that the story about Fort Detrick was not only plausible but probable and even true.
“The Segal couple were convinced that the Fort Detrick scenario was genuine and worked hard to spread this message. They were allowed by the East German authorities to do so at a conference in Harare, Zimbabwe. They were, however, not allowed to publish their material in East Germany. The fact that they were not supported actively by the German Democratic Republic (GDR) authorities, however, made them feel suppressed. The conspiracy theory had also been spread in Indian and Russian newspapers, such as Trud and Literaturna Gaseta.”
In 1990-93, as the chief professional advisor and health professional educator in Henry Schein Co., I became the leading investigator of the murder theory in the mysterious case of the Florida dentist, Dr. David Acer, who transmitted his strain of HIV to six patients. I learned, during my investigation that Acer believed he was dying of a virus the government had created. I published this fact, along with substantial evidence of Acer’s revenge motive, in several scientific peer-reviewed publications, and in my ninth book, Deadly Innocence: The Kimberly Bergalis Case– Solving The Greatest Murder Mystery In The History of American Medicine. I learned that Acer had received from Strecker the Strecker Memorandum, and was livid that he was dying of a virus the U.S. Government had created. Using the FBI’s methods and materials–the “Motivational Model for Sexual Homicide” published by Burgess and Ressler at Quantico–I concluded that Acer maintained a classic “organized serial killer” personality profile, crime scene profile, and developmental history. These conclusions, and scientific publications as well, were heavily disparaged and suppressed. This resulted in my black-listing from the professional lecture circuit and firing by Schein.
Having realized Acer was likely suffering from AIDS-dementia, I could not believe Strecker’s work was legitimate. So, in effect, I was biased against Strecker, and even sought to disprove his Memorandum.
I also did not rely on Segal’s reports in my investigation, and had not read any of Cantwell’s books. My three-year independent inquiry culminated in my discovery of the “chimpanzee-link” missed by the other authors in the actual “Special Virus Cancer Program” (SVCP) contracts under which the genetically-engineered immune-suppressive viruses were bio-engineered by the U.S. Army’s sixth top biological weapons contractor–Litton Bionetics. That discovery, and published revelation, resulted in my blacklisting as a speaker from major professional conferences and lecture circuits in which I had been previously welcomed.
Accordingly, my corroboration of Strecker’s, Cantwell’s and Segal’s conclusions is backed by the shocking experiments detailed in the 425-page Special Virus Cancer Program 1972 publication. This government-secreted text explains how and why these kinds of “special viruses” were manufactured and distributed. And they especially incriminate the vaccine industry.
“It was all done under a hush-hush program,” I explained in an earlier publication. “The scientific publications prove the simultaneous hepatitis B experiments were conducted in New York City, Central Africa, and apparently Haiti too, during the early 1970s. And these facts best explain the occurrence of what Dr. Gerald Myers –the leading expert in HIV/AIDS phylogeny–called the ‘Big Bang Theory.’ This chief of the special AIDS project for the U.S. Government’s Los Alamos Laboratory corroborated my discoveries and thesis, that the sudden and simultaneous emergence of several strains of HIV around the world by the mid 1970s resulted from the secreted Special Virus Cancer Program lab experiments.
I reviewed more than 2,500 scientific reports and government documents, some obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, to assess dozens of viral vaccine studies. The chief suspects emerged from the network of military and pharmaceutical industry scientists working for the Merck Drug Co., Litton Bionetics, and the Southwest Foundation, as shown in the Special Virus Cancer Program text (available for sale here). (Natural News) The climate change hoax has collapsed. A devastating series of research papers has just been published, revealing that human activity can account for no more than a .01°C rise in global temperatures, meaning that all the human activity targeted by radical climate change alarmists — combustion engines, airplane flights, diesel tractors — has virtually no measurable impact on the temperature of the planet.
The paper explains that IPCC analysis of global temperatures suffers from a glaring error — namely, failure to account for “influences of low cloud cover” and how it impacts global temperatures. Natural variations in low cloud cover, which are strongly influenced by cosmic radiation’s ability to penetrate Earth’s atmosphere due to variations in the strength of our planet’s magnetosphere, account for nearly all changes in global temperature, the researchers explain.
As this chart reveals, more cloud cover is inversely related to temperature. In other words, clouds shield the surface of the Earth from the sun, providing shade cover cooling, while a lack of clouds results in more warming:

A new analysis of the clinical trials of HPV vaccines to prevent cervical cancer raises doubts about the vaccines’ effectiveness. The analysis, published by the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, assessed 12 published Phase 2 and 3 randomised controlled efficacy trials of the HPV vaccines Cervarix and Gardasil.
The analysis, carried out by researchers at Newcastle University and Queen Mary University of London, revealed many methodological problems in the design of the Phase 2 and 3 efficacy trials, leading to uncertainty regarding understanding the effectiveness of HPV vaccination.
The researchers found that the trials were not designed to detect cervical cancer, which takes decades to develop. Women in the trials were followed up for six years or less, apart from one trial extension to just under nine years. While the researchers found evidence that vaccination prevents low grade abnormal cell changes, they said this is not clinically important because no treatment is given.
Lead researcher Dr Claire Rees, of Queen Mary University of London, said: “Trials may have overestimated efficacy by combining high-grade cervical disease with low-grade cervical changes that occur more frequently but often resolve spontaneously without progressing. We found insufficient data to clearly conclude that HPV vaccine prevents the higher-grade abnormal cell changes that can eventually develop into cervical cancer.”
Dr Rees added: “Abnormal cell changes are likely to have been overdiagnosed in the trials because cervical cytology was conducted at 6-12 months rather than at the normal screening interval of 36 months. This, too, means that the trials may have overestimated the efficacy of the vaccine, again because some of the lesions would have regressed spontaneously.”
The researchers also found that the trial populations had limited relevance and validity for real world settings. The women in the trials were older than the target population.
Calling for women to still attend regular cervical screening, co-author of the study, Professor Allyson Pollock, of Newcastle University, said: “We have good evidence that cervical screening significantly reduces the risk of cervical cancer in women regardless of whether they have been vaccinated.”

Claims that 1080 poison operations are needed – are NOT based on any evidence
On August 2019, Dr Pollard sent an open letter to Mike Slater, Deputy-Director General of Operations for the New Zealand Dept of Conservation.
This letter summarised the oft-repeated unscientific claims made by DoC as they present a ‘case’ to try to justify their inhumane aerial 1080 poison operations – in this case, Arthur’s Pass, South Island.
Some parts of this public land had never been poisoned before, so like Makarora in 2017, it would have been an excellent research ‘control area’ to compare the potential benefits to our ecosystems of NOT using this indiscriminate, inhumane toxin. But now that opportunity is lost, on November 25th 2019, 23,000 ha of Arthur’s Pass were aerially poisoned with 1080, as were some surrounding areas. Further aerial 1080 poisoning operations in the surrounding areas are also imminent (see yellow areas on pesticide summary map below).
In this scientific evidence-based letter, Dr Pollard clearly points out that:
1) DoC’s own so-called ‘pest’ control monitoring shows that there is no evidence of any pest ‘problem’.
2) There is also no evidence of the claimed ‘benefits’ of aerial poisoning operations such as this.
3) Furthermore, the risks are not fully acknowledged in any assessment. These risks include: contamination of our food chain, including drinking water; death of native species, secondary and by-kill of other species.
This is NOT an isolated case for Arthur’s Pass – Official Information Act responses from many other poison operations – including the one proposed for Mount Pirongia, central North Island – also have presented facts that prove DoC have NO evidence to support their claims that aerial poison operations are a necessity.
But sadly that does not currently stop the Government from over-ruling any public or professional objectives in order to carry out those poisonings.
1080 poison is an endocrine disruptor and in even minute traces can potentially cause miscarriage, infertility, heart conditions and harm to the unborn child. There have been NO public health studies into the potential long-term impact from a sub lethal dose of 1080 poison – for humans or any other species.

New Zealand is a leader in government use of artificial intelligence (AI). It is part of a global network of countries that use predictive algorithms in government decision making, for anything from the optimal scheduling of public hospital beds to whether an offender should be released from prison, based on their likelihood of reoffending, or the efficient processing of simple insurance claims.
But the official use of AI algorithms in government has been in the spotlight in recent years. On the plus side, AI can enhance the accuracy, efficiency and fairness of day-to-day decision making. But concerns have also been expressed regarding transparency, meaningful human control, data protection and bias.
In a report released today, we recommend New Zealand establish a new independent regulator to monitor and address the risks associated with these digital technologies.
There are three important issues regarding transparency.
One relates to the inspectability of algorithms. Some aspects of New Zealand government practice are reassuring. Unlike some countries that use commercial AI products, New Zealand has tended to build government AI tools in-house. This means that we know how the tools work.
But intelligibility is another issue. Knowing how an AI system works doesn’t guarantee the decisions it reaches will be understood by the people affected. The best performing AI systems are often extremely complex.
To make explanations intelligible, additional technology is required. A decision-making system can be supplemented with an “explanation system”. These are additional algorithms “bolted on” to the main algorithm we seek to understand. Their job is to construct simpler models of how the underlying algorithms work – simple enough to be understandable to people. We believe explanation systems will be increasingly important as AI technology advances.
A final type of transparency relates to public access to information about the AI systems used in government. The public should know what AI systems their government uses as well as how well they perform. Systems should be regularly evaluated and summary results made available to the public in a systematic format.
Our report takes a detailed look at how well New Zealand law currently handles these transparency issues.
New Zealand doesn’t have laws specifically tailored towards algorithms, but some are relevant in this context. For instance, New Zealand’s Official Information Act (OIA) provides a right to reasons for decisions by official agencies, and this is likely to apply to algorithmic decisions just as much as human ones. This is in notable contrast to Australia, which doesn’t impose a general duty on public officials to provide reasons for their decisions.
But even the OIA would come up short where decisions are made or supported by opaque decision systems. That is why we recommend that predictive algorithms used by government, whether developed commercially or in-house, must feature in a public register, must be publicly inspectable, and (if necessary) must be supplemented with explanation systems.
Human control and data protection
Another issue relates to human control. Some of the concerns around algorithmic decision-making are best addressed by making sure there is a “human in the loop,” with a human having final sign off on any important decision. However, we don’t think this is likely to be an adequate solution in the most important cases.
A persistent theme of research in industrial psychology is that humans become overly trusting and uncritical of automated systems, especially when those systems are reliable most of the time. Just adding a human “in the loop” will not always produce better outcomes. Indeed in certain contexts, human collaboration will offer false reassurance, rendering AI-assisted decisions less accurate.
With respect to data protection, we flag the problem of “inferred data”. This is data inferred about people rather than supplied by them directly (just as when Amazon infers that you might like a certain book on the basis of books it knows you have purchased). Among other recommendations, our report calls for New Zealand to consider the legal status of inferred data, and whether it should be treated the same way as primary data.
Bias and discrimination
A final area of concern is bias. Computer systems might look unbiased, but if they are relying on “dirty data” from previous decisions, they could have the effect of “baking in” discriminatory assumptions and practices. New Zealand’s anti-discrimination laws are likely to apply to algorithmic decisions, but making sure discrimination doesn’t creep back in will require ongoing monitoring.
The report also notes that while “individual rights” — for example, against discrimination — are important, we can’t entirely rely on them to guard against all of these risks. For one thing, affected people will often be those with the least economic or political power. So while they may have the “right” not to be discriminated against, it will be cold comfort to them if they have no way of enforcing it.
There is also the danger that they won’t be able to see the whole picture, to know whether an algorithm’s decisions are affecting different sections of the community differently. To enable a broader discussion about bias, public evaluation of AI tools should arguably include results for specific sub-populations, as well as for the whole population.
A new independent body will be essential if New Zealand wants to harness the benefits of algorithmic tools while avoiding or minimising their risks to the public.

NOTE: The NZ authorities do not practice the precautionary principle with the spreading of 1080 poison. In fact they are now legally allowed to drop it into your waterways without the previously required consents, even though the manufacturer’s warning says take care not to drop it into the waterways. Whilst they continue to claim it is harmless, there is much independent research that says otherwise. (See 1080science for further independent info). In light of that, in my opinion it is safer to follow the precautionary principle, that is, proceed as if there were a possible risk to your health rather than assume there is none. Since 1080 is a known teratogen I believe it is particularly important for pregnant mothers or even those who think they may be or who could be pregnant, to distance themselves from an area where 1080 is being distributed, particularly aerially because of the drift of the dust over long distances. I believe these are the concerns being raised here, and particularly also with regard to warning tourists of the risks of drinking the water, who may not be able to read the signs (if there indeed are any). Finally, of particular concern is the topography of Milford Sound. When it rains at Milford Sound, “all of the steep landscape can be considered a streambed”. EWR.

Bowen Falls, Milford Sound….. the water intake for supplying Milford Sound township, and all tourist boats and accommodation, is approx. 200m upstream of the Bowen Falls and approx. 100m below the 1080 poison bait drop zone, where 1080 poison baits were aerially dropped on 15 October, 2019.

Also here is where the only filter for our drinking water is…it’s a UV filter. Then it is distributed to vessels and accommodations. Our drinking water is straight from the Bowen River valley. I have walked up the pipeline before… quite steep in places.”
The significance of all of this is that the aerial 1080 drop could possibly have contaminated the water supply. As well as that, poisoned carcasses will, as we know from experience in all aerial 1080 drops, end up in that waterway as well, also then being a source of contamination.

In our September 18th debate for Spectrum TV, Kaiser’s Chief of Pediatrics, Dr. Robert Riewerts, parroted Pharma’s popular canard that the Gardasil vaccine has eliminated cervical cancer in Australia—the first country to mandate the jab. This is false.

The results of several studies suggest that women who work at night — factory workers, doctors, nurses, and police officers, for example — have a higher risk of breast cancer compared to women who work during the day. Other research suggests that women who live in areas with high levels of external light at night (street lights, for example) have a higher risk of breast cancer.
Researchers think that this increase in risk is linked to melatonin levels. Melatonin is a hormone that plays a role in regulating the body’s sleep cycle. Melatonin production peaks at night and is lower during the day when your eyes register light exposure. When women work at night or if they’re exposed to external light at night, their melatonin levels tend to stay low.

In Wanganui, we dumped 58 tonnes in a landfill. We lifted the bait out of the ground for assessing and in six months it had degraded by half and in 12 months it was barely detectable.”
And yet, in the SAME article, (quote)
“Scientific evidence says WATER does DESTROY 1080 and residue lasts no longer than 24 hours and it does say that after 4 inches of rain the baits are safe.”
So which is it? Does the poison ‘disappear’ after 24 hours, or hang around for over a year?
And who did that testing?
You guessed it, the New Zealand Dept of Conservation – the same people advocating its use. The conflicts of interest and the inadequate and conflicting outcomes from testing has been ongoing for decades.
1080 poison does not ‘breakdown quickly into harmless salt’ as per the propaganda. It takes a long time to break down and the process kills micro organisms that are essential for the complex ecosystems of our environment.
There is no antidote to 1080 poison. It is a known hormone disruptor and a single teaspoon of the toxic chemical can kill many adults. The sub lethal impact on many species, including humans, is entirely unknown.
SO WHICH IS IT? DOES THE POISON ‘DISAPPEAR’ AFTER 24 HOURS, OR HANG AROUND FOR OVER A YEAR?

“Neither proposition is true. The science on this is pretty well established. Adding water to 1080 simply makes an aqueous solution. The lethality will not degrade… ever. The same can be said for contact with soils. What does eventually break down 1080 are microorganisms sometimes found in the environment.
Note the “sometimes”. In a set of laboratory experiments one researcher found that when he added 1080 to a mixture of soil and water (eight samples, from different sites around New Zealand) the lethality of the mixture gradually decayed over time. For three of the samples essentially no reduction in toxicity occurred. The breakdown rate was dramatically affected by sample temperature and slowed quickly as the temperature of the sample was reduced below 23 degrees.
1080 is biodegradable, given the presence of the right microorganisms, given the right temperature and given time. Remove any one of those three and it is a very persistent toxin indeed.
That’s precisely why DoC’s use of the phrase “biodegradable 1080“ is so dangerous, so irresponsible and so dishonest. Think of it as telling someone that it’s perfectly safe to jump out of an aeroplane – without first explaining that you should be wearing a parachute at the time.”

A research collaboration is proposing an alternative to Predator Free 2050, calling the current policy “badly designed and unachievable”.

The research says the Predator Free 2050 policy is based on three flawed assumptions — that predator extermination is the best way to protect biodiversity, that we need to eradicate every stoat, rat and possum to protect biodiversity, and that complete eradication of predators is possible. This research collaboration was undertaken by Associate Professor Wayne Linklater from Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Biological Sciences and ecologist Dr Jamie Steer, who is also a Senior Biodiversity Advisor at the Greater Wellington Regional Council.
“None of these assumptions are true,” says Associate Professor Linklater. “Complete eradication of predators is technologically impossible, and biodiversity is affected more in some places by habitat decline and plant eaters than it is by predators.”
But perhaps one of the biggest issues with Predator Free 2050 is it requires eliminating select predators from complex communities of other plants, animals and humans, he says.
“This will likely lead to negative social and ecological outcomes. Eradicating some predators will cause populations of other introduced animals to erupt. Many people also have valid concerns about the safety and cruelty of predator control methods, and the policy fails to take into account Māori views on predator management as well, particularly on Māori lands.”
Predator Free 2050 could also lead to reduced public and government support for future conservation policies, says Associate Professor Linklater.
