The study was the first to explore the effects of vitamin C on cancer stem cells – and provided the first evidence that vitamin C, in the form of ascorbic acid, can target and kill them.
In a side-by-side comparison of seven different substances, vitamin C even outperformed an experimental cancer drug.

The details reported by Radio New Zealand this morning about an audit report alleging Horowhenua District Council CEO, David Clapperton, has been surreptitiously monitoring and blocking emails sent to elected officials are made even worse by the fact that Local Government New Zealand’s ‘Excellence Program’ gave the Council a ‘competent’ mark for ‘listening and responding’ in an assessment released only last week.
“It is very clear that Mr Clapperton’s head needs to roll if this serious misconduct is true”, says Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union. “We understand that the Mayor and other elected officials have had to engage their own lawyers to obtain information through the CEO. That is unheard of.”
“Questions also need to be asked of LGNZ about why this Council was given a pass rating only last week for ‘listening and responding’ despite the Council having received this disturbing audit report in March. If blocking ratepayers from contacting elected officials is okay, what the heck does a council need to do to fail LGNZ’s assessments?”

Words escape me. This is so sad … and ironically outside a church. With all due respect to those in the story who have helped this man, it’s still one of those WWJD moments (what would Jesus do). I rather think that although he didn’t have a home of his own, he would’ve invited him inside nevertheless & given him a bed, some blankets and a pillow. And perhaps a seat by the fire. Very sad. He died within view of the soup kitchen. People this is not the NZ we knew once. This modus operandi is from the halls of our esteemed leaders who are placing profits & the ‘needs’ of corporates above those of the people they are supposed to be serving. These folk organizing soup kitchens and shelters are running on limited funds and the problem is becoming enormous.

Homeless man found dead outside Manurewa Methodist Church
A homeless man has been found dead, huddled under his sleeping bag at the back of a church – the second known such death of a homeless person in two weeks as a polar blast grips the nation.
The man was found on Tuesday morning as Manurewa Methodist Church set up its weekly soup kitchen for the homeless.
Manurewa mum Beverley Losefa, who organises the soup kitchen, thought he was sleeping in. But when they served the first cup of tea and he still hadn’t risen she became worried.
Police were called and confirmed the man had died, before they cordoned off the area.
Losefa was heartbroken to see the man die without his family. She spoke through tears about how lonely and cold he must have been to take his final breath outside the church they call “the corner of hope”.
“I’d never forgive myself if it was someone I knew. I hope no one loses someone this way,” she said.
Well it must be getting very bad when mainstream media is concerned about the image of a woman drinking from our toxic (oops 100% pure) rivers. Seriously. Horowhenua has one of the top 10 worst polluted lakes in NZ, so toxic that ingesting it could potentially kill a small child or an animal. New ‘100% Pure’ campaign shows tourist drinking river water
While concerns grow about the health of New Zealand’s waterways – including the potential for reputational damage – it has not changed the way the country presents itself to the world.
The latest “100% Pure” campaign, released last week, shows a tourist drinking water from a river, something that would be dangerous in parts of the country.
The Government-funded ad was released last week by Tourism New Zealand (TNZ), and will be broadcast around the world over the next two years.
The campaign is titled “where one journey leads to another”, and anchors on a dream-like video following two tourists tramping, diving and kayaking in various locations throughout New Zealand.

A well-known homeless man who had a cheeky smile and lovable nature died on a bench in an Auckland cemetery.
Keith Johnson, died aged 57 on the same bench he had sat on most days for the past four years in St Peter’s cemetery in Onehunga on July 1.
Johnson was not in the best of health, and his alcoholism may have contributed to his death, those close to him say.
The public has responded to Johnson’s death with an outpouring of grief. Mementos including a surfboard, table spreads, flowers and notes have been left at the bench he used to occupy.

Sam Girod of Bath County is an Amish farmer who sold homemade treatments for skin problems and sinus infections. When the FDA took issue with a label saying one of the ailments his cream was good for was skin cancer, he removed the term from the packaging. The FDA contacted him again in 2013, and a federal court in Missouri ordered him to stop selling his products until an FDA inspection could be carried out.
At that time, he agreed to stop selling a bloodroot salve they expressed concern about, but the Amish man refused to allow the agents onto his family’s farm after they broke their promise not to take photographs, which go against his religion.
He said that not only did his products not fall under the FDA’s purview because they were not drugs, but requiring their approval was also a violation of his religious freedom as a member of the Amish faith. Judge Danny Reeves handed down the harsh sentence earlier this month.
Following six years in prison, he will undergo three years of supervised release. He must also pay fines of more than $14,000 and cease production and distribution of his products. Girod represented himself during his trial and said that he does not recognize the court’s authority, only the authority of his higher power.
Why target Amish farmers when what Big Pharma sells is far more dangerous?

The Horowhenua District Council was looking to reap a market-value sale price on its pensioner housing, but sold it for millions less.
A document obtained by Stuff reveals the rateable value of the council’s 115 pensioner housing units is $9.2 million.
But, it sold to Compassion Horowhenua for $5.5 million, Stuff confirmed in June.
The document – a proposal about what the council calls a “community housing transfer” – says the council aimed to “receive a fair market value on sale”.
The council would not confirm how much the housing sold for, but conceded the sale price was less than $7.19 million, the units’ book value.
Council chief executive David Clapperton said the Compassion Housing bid provided the best value for money offer and met its aspirations for ongoing management of the units.
Rateable values are set every three years by Quotable Value.
The book value, made by independent valuers, took into consideration the average age of the portfolio and that 50-60 per cent of the stock would have to be replaced over the next 20-25, years at an estimated cost of $4.3 million, Clapperton said.
Until the sale was complete, possibly by September 30, information about the deal would remain confidential, he said.

Glyphosate designated “probably carcinogenic” by WHO in 2015
Glyphosate weed killer is sold under numerous brand names, but the most widely used is Roundup, manufactured by the Monsanto company. The state of California is using statute CAS #107-83-6 to change the designation of the weed killer, which they say has cancer as a known endpoint for some people who are exposed to it.

This is how little they really care about people so don’t fall for the ‘we care about you’ line when just weeks before election time they start bringing out the bribes, having coldly ignored homelessness, child poverty & suicide stats for years now.

At this point in time it’s a choice. They don’t intend for it to remain that way however.
The new UN plan (well it’s fairly old actually, it’s just they haven’t fully told us about it yet) is about ‘sustainable development’. But have we seen anything that’s sustainable lately, or ever? The pollution’s getting increasingly worse with only 40% of rivers now swimmable, and while they sell our water offshore for profit (for themselves, & we were told Agenda 21 was about helping the poor) we have to buy it at a much higher price, as much as 500 times more. Then generally we have to filter it because it’s now full of chemicals … added to kill the bacteria from all the pollution.

So the whitebait are declining our esteemed experts notice. Note, as always with mainstream, they doctor up aka re frame the terminology to make the information more palatable. For example the term “pollution” has become “declining water quality” which is, as we’ve been seeing for at least a century now, human sewage discharged into the waterways, industrial discharge from chemical factories and farming run off including pesticides, fertilizers and animal excrement, as well as the trampling of the edges of the waterways which whitebait need to spawn“. This pollution has all resulted in waterways that are too trashed & fouled for any living organism … and this is re framed as “a reduction in habitat”. Those terms are less distasteful than just plain “shit in the water”. It takes the spotlight off the main polluters also, these are industries run by corporations largely and we need to stay in bed with those because after all economic development is a priority over environment …. as we all know. This is also known as ‘sustainable development’. ‘Yeah right” I hear you say & I totally agree. Sustainable development is a scam right out of Agenda 21 now 2030 (the updated more fascist version, (see also Agenda 21/30 in NZ). And you’re thinking ‘fascist’ is rather extreme a term … not if you really look hard. And especially if you’ve ever tried to stop this pollution. In some countries you could be murdered for such a ‘crime’ as exposing polluting practices, however here in New Zealand (clean and green, GE free, corruption free, nuclear free and so on is the general fake spin) we’re a little more covert than that. Note in their list of possible solutions … “ending commercial whitebaiting, introducing catch allowances for recreational whitebaiters and an independent review of the long-term sustainability of the fishery …” they all focus on fishing and nothing much about addressing the “declining water quality”. Environmental scientists are warning the government that all five native whitebait species will become extinct by 2034 if action isn’t taken immediately.
Massey University’s Kyleisha Foote and Pierce McNie presented a petition with more than 3000 signatures to the Primary Production Select Committee this morning.
They say commercial whitebait fishing, declining water quality, and a reduction in habitat are behind the falling number of whitebait.
According to the scientists, without immediate action one of the five whitebait species could be extinct within three years and all five will be extinct in 2034.
“We have known about the decline for a long time yet there has been no change in the management of the fishery in the last 20 years,” said Foote.
“We’re thinking if we don’t do anything now there’s going to be no whitebait left for recreation whitebaiters to go and be able to catch a feed.”
They made a raft of recommendations including ending commercial whitebaiting, introducing catch allowances for recreational whitebaiters and an independent review of the long-term sustainability of the fishery.

“I am sure there are many Americans who have no idea nor care what “The Draft International Covenant on Environment and Development” (DICED) is. They should. The Draft Covenant is the “Environmental Constitution of Global Governance.”
The first version of the Covenant was presented to the United Nations in 1995 on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary. It was hoped that it would become a negotiating document for a global treaty on environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The fourth version of the Covenant, issued on September 22, 2010, was written to control all development tied to the environment, “the highest form of law for all human activity.’
The Covenant’s 79 articles, described in great detail in 242 pages, take Sustainable Development principles described in Agenda 21 and transform them into global law, which supersedes all constitutions including the U.S. Constitution.
All signatory nations, including the U.S., would become centrally planned, socialist countries in which all decisions would be made within the framework of Sustainable Development.
In collaboration with Earth Charter and Elizabeth Haub Foundation for Environmental Policy and Law from Canada, the Covenant was issued by the International Council on Environmental Law (ICEL) in Bonn, Germany, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) with offices in Gland, Switzerland and Cambridge, UK.
Federal agencies that are members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) include U.S. Department of State, Commerce, Agriculture (Forest Service), Interior (Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The same agencies are members of the White House Rural Council and the newly established White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities (Executive Order, March 15, 2012).
Deliberately blanketing the skies with nanosized heavy metals achieves at least two complementary goals, i.e. weather manipulation and make people brain dead.
Weather manipulation itself has two main objectives:

Deliberately reduces agricultural production to induce famine and hunger in the Third World; raises food prices to keep Western population in perpetual austerity.
So, what’s wrong with sustainable development? Isn’t it good for the planet?
Of course, it is. But what are the methods they are proposing to achieve it?
Are they saying that it is high time that we use non-polluting free energy technologies instead of fossil fueled power plants?
Are they saying that cold fusion will be used instead of the obsolete nuclear fusion technology?
They want us to reduce carbon emissions by shutting down factories and charge “carbon tax” to feed the greedy Corporatocracy even more. But that’s not all.
The heavy metals they keep spraying are proven to be in accordance with the overall goal of directly reducing the population that’s been emitting much of the carbon dioxide according to the most ardent population reduction through mass vaccination advocate, Bill Gates ….
The idiocy of this whole farce is breathtaking to say the least. Whilst ex PM Key (who has now slithered from view) has more than one mansion to live and holiday in, our govt/corp buys mansions for its reps abroad and 33K homes sit empty in Auckland owned by off shore speculators with that latter city now the most expensive to buy in planet wide … we have the same establishment lendingthousands of dollars to the homeless for emergency motel accommodation & leaving them deep in debt. And these homes (including others) sit empty. Um, who exactly is controlling the purse strings (the same folk who got us neck deep in debt) and why are they not sacked? (They could have loaned that money to the homeless as a deposit on a home). And soon we’ll doubtless have another equally as incompetent set of riders for the very same corporate horse that’s running the show. This is all a crime of obscene proportions … the homelessness I’m referring to. From a nation that once housed all, to folk living in cars, sheds and garages. Shame, shame New Zeeland. Shame on the Nats, shame on Labour too who helped us all down this road that’s looking frightening indeed for many. The steely, cold reality of the UN’s plan for so called ‘sustainable development’. First they were too big and now they’re too small but soon, according to Housing New Zealand, four empty houses in Porirua City will be just right.
The properties have been empty for four years, the last tenants relocated so the houses could be earthquake proofed – something HNZ now says they didn’t need.
Ten months after the agency tried to sell the three-bedroom houses because the demand was for smaller homes. It now has plans to remodel the properties into accommodation for larger families.

Appearing on the award-winning talk show The Doctors on May 2015, Monsanto Toxicologist Donna Farmer went head-to-head with founding executive director of The Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT) Jeffrey Smith. During that time, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Monsanto on Cancer (IARC) released its findings labeling Monsanto’s Round-Up herbicide product as “probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A).” Farmer had this to say:
“I’ll give you an example of one of the studies. They actually injected the Round-Up formulation into the abdomen of the animals and they did have an effect. But that’s not a relevant route of exposure for somebody who is going to be spraying that herbicide. So that’s what we look at and the regulatory agencies look at and, like the other bodies at the World Health Organization. IARC only looks and says, “If I inject it there’s a hazard.” So there’s different ways we look at the data.”
Italians Take to the Streets to Protest New Mandatory Vaccination Law

Readers from Italy have been contacting Health Impact News this past week, asking us to cover the massive demonstrations happening throughout Italy to protest a new mandatory vaccine law. This news has been censored from the U.S. corporate media. Only four vaccines were mandatory in Italy, now that number triples to 12. The French government announced that it might make 11 vaccines compulsory for children, adding to the three already mandatory shots (diphtheria, tetanus, and polio). Under the new jurisdiction, parents would be forced to follow a vaccination schedule including jabs against measles, hepatitis B, meningitis C, rubella, mumps and whooping cough.
This change of heart comes after the Conseil d’Etat, France’s highest administrative court, ruled in favour of parents who chose not to vaccinate their children, as the three mandatory shots were not available separately, but only in one shot combined with additional vaccines. The former Health Ministry opposed making these three vaccines available for people, which led the court to give the new government 6 months in order to find a solution.

Doctors say extremely small quantities of radioactive substances have been detected in the urine of 5 workers who were accidentally exposed to the materials early this month at a research facility north of Tokyo.
The incident took place on June 6th at a facility of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency in Oarai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture. The workers were inspecting a nuclear fuel container when a bag inside suddenly burst, expelling radioactive powder.
The agency initially said as much as 22,000 becquerels of plutonium-239 were detected in the lungs of one of the workers. But they were discharged from hospital by Tuesday of last week after repeated examinations at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences detected no plutonium in their lungs.
On Monday, the institute said checks of the 5 workers’ urine later revealed extremely small amounts of plutonium and other radioactive materials.
