An application from an external organisation was approved for the experiment by Lincoln University in 2010, for “trials assessing the effects of sodium nitrate during its development as a humane alternative to 1080”.
Bait containing sodium nitrate was later registered to kill possums and feral pigs in 2013.
In a statement provided by the university, no further trials approved by the animal ethics committee involved dogs.
The university says it was the responsibility of the applicant to ensure “the procurement, production, maintenance of animals as well as for the work undertaken” complied with the Animal Welfare Act and the university’s code of conduct for use of animals.
The applicant, according to the report, collected 10 dogs from a Christchurch pound to evaluate the risks of dogs eating carcasses as well as specific organs from possums that had ingested the poison.
Dogs were separated into groups, with one group being fed minced possum organs and another group fed entire carcasses.
The dogs were then monitored after the meal to see if they would present signs of sodium nitrate poisoning.
According to the report, these can include “vomiting, excessive thirst, diarrhorrea, heavy panting, the loss of coordination and methaemoglobinaemia (such as shortness of breath, cyanosis, lethargy, loss of consciousness, and bluish colouring of lips, gums, paws and nose)”.
The dogs were later euthanaised by a veterinarian at the end of the seven-day trial.
New Zealand Anti-Vivisection Society spokesperson Tara Jackson says the experiment highlights how little impact ethics committees have as “even projects with this callous approach to life can be approved”.
“These experiments happen behind closed doors, and it is no surprise the public is horrified when we expose this kind of cruelty. These poor creatures were taken from a pound, fed poison, and then killed.”
Ms Jackson says her organisation has a waiting list of people willing to re-home dogs used in experiments like this.

A middle schooler who wore a sweatshirt featuring the words ‘Virginity Rocks’ said administrators threatened him with suspension if he wore it again.
Seventh-grader Londyn Piglowski said he was told by his social studies teacher to turn the hoodie inside out or take it off “or else they would have to take action.”
The Wentzville School District dress code prohibits clothing that promotes “immoral, illegal, sexual or violent behavior,” none of which applies to Piglowski’s sweatshirt.
Piglowski was threatened with suspension if he wore the hoodie at school again.
“I didn’t think this was bad so whenever they told me to take it off I was like why am I taking this off because it’s a positive message?” he said.
Piglowski’s father said that the message should be in line with the school’s sex ed policy…

Following a 7 month silence, NZ Worksafe confirms 2019 Christchurch poisoning was 1080, & also appear to confirm a fatality

If this IS the case there were TWO people poisoned by 1080 on May 28, 2019, at the Kiwicare Ltd warehouse in Bromley, Christchurch, where, according to news reports, chemicals were being processed for delivery to the main 1080-bait factory, Pest Control Research Ltd, in Rolleston.
On 9 January, 2020, James Harold sent an OIA request to Worksafe ( see below).
On 14 January, 2020, he rang Worksafe to see if they had received it. They confirmed they had and they sent him the email below, (with his OIA request at the end, which I have not included here as it contains his personal details).
James Harold is adamant that at no time did he mention 1080 poison or the Christchurch (Bromley) poisoning to them.
As James’ OIA request asked about a fatality on the Worksafe fatalities register, and the Worksafe response was to ask James if the Bromley incident was the one he meant (which he has since confirmed to them in a reply email), doesn’t a simple deduction mean it would appear the Kiwicare Ltd worker died? ( Not that anything is ever simple with these government departments!)

However we also know that a manager was poisoned and survived – see screenshot below of comment made by Sara Leadbetter recently on ‘Ban 1080 – South Island’ Facebook group.
I have since spoken to Sara Leadbetter and she has confirmed her statement. The person still alive is a contractor, not an employee, and is in management at Kiwicare Corporation Ltd (1). I was told he breathed something in and that was the last thing he remembered. He was in a coma, had organ failure, and nearly died. He is now back at work and is still working for Kiwicare in Christchurch.

50 Year Old Woman Dies Within 48 Hours of Receiving 8 Vaccines

Her heart was only working at 15-20% and the heart function should be around 65%. She had many tests, echocardiograms, was prescribed heart medicine, and changed her lifestyle somewhat to get better. She had been working at her in-law’s business as the bookkeeper and store manager. She had cut her work schedule to a few days and hours a week as she was tired a lot.Denise had a husband, three children, and two grandchildren whom she loved so dearly. She would put them first in everything. She would sacrifice all the time for family including me, her mom. I miss that so much. Her little grandchildren tell everyone, “grandma’s in heaven”. This is heart-breaking for my whole family. Never did I ever think I would lose my only daughter at 50 because a government makes us take poison in our bodies.
Even with a heart condition, Denise did normal things like ride out back on their property in their four-wheeler. They would build a fire and sit out by a creek and enjoy nature. Now that’s all gone. There are places I went with her that I’m not sure I ever want to go there again without her. I am so angry that she had to do these vaccinations and she was totally against them. My grandson and his wife don’t vaccinate their daughter. My family are so against putting poison in our bodies.

Beekeepers traumatised and counselled after hearing animals screaming in pain after bushfires
Beekeepers checking on hives are some of the first people into fire-ravaged forests, and are not prepared for the traumatic sights and sounds of wounded and suffering animals.
NSW Apiarists Association president Stephen Targett said the situation in north-eastern NSW was “truly devastating” to beekeepers and extremely traumatic.
“It’s doing their heads in, the screaming animals, the animals that are in pain, that are crying out in the forest, it’s absolutely horrific,” Mr Targett said.
“One beekeeper employs some young people and it has really traumatised them.
“So the beekeeper has arranged counselling for these young beekeepers who went into the forest and he won’t allow them back into the forest for a period of time.
Concern for mental health
The impact of the drought and now bushfires has worn beekeepers down.
More than a million hectares has burnt in NSW since the start of this year’s bushfire season, with hives and key foraging country for bees burnt out.
Peter Matthison from Elands, south-west of Port Macquarie, estimated he had lost 70 per cent of his hives and 90 per cent of the sites he used for his bees.

It makes some very valid points which we feel should be spread more widely.
I’m becoming increasingly concerned about a fairly major threat to freedom of speech that is coming from much of the Anglo-world media as well as academia, its students and the teaching profession. This means it is now dominating public discussion with only one view allowed. Entire generations of young people are now leaving schools and universities thoroughly indoctrinated with it. All across Puerto Rico, residents continued to reel from the damage inflicted by the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the impoverished US territory on Tuesday. At least two thirds of the island’s population remained without electricity as of Thursday, and 250,000 without clean water. Everywhere, residents could be seen sleeping outside, fearful of aftershocks.
One death has been attributed to the earthquake so far, a figure likely to rise as officials continue to assess the damage. As many as 40 aftershocks with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher have occurred since the quake on Tuesday, further damaging structures and slowing relief efforts.

It’s November again and once again half of NSW and Queensland is battling bushfires.
It pains me to see rural and regional communities go through the trauma of out of control bushfires consuming land, forests, native fauna, homes, livelihoods and lives.
My family and my community went through the exact same process last year. It appears little has changed.
Some may say this is not the time to be playing politics around bushfires while people are battling to save their homes and businesses. However, it appears to me that the only time people and politicians will listen is when the flames are coming over the horizon or communities are left in ash.
As predictable as always, conservationists and opportunistic politicians are blaming these fires on climate change.

On RTL this morning an opponent of the protests claimed that the numbers out on the streets had gone down.
Le Monde says,
Strike against pension reform: 452,000 demonstrators in France, including 56,000 in Paris
On the 36th day of the strike, the mobilisation was less massive than on December the 17th, when the Ministry of the Interior had recorded 615,000 demonstrators, including 76,000 in Paris.
The interior ministry announced that 452,000 people had marched in France , against 615,000 for the day of December 17. For their part, the unions claimed that there were 1.2 million demonstrators in 65 processions.
Traffic is still disrupted on the SNCF and RATP networks this Thursday. The strikes also concern lawyers, refinery staff and teachers.
There were some violent incidents in Paris.
