Amid outcries that the public were consulted on the $1.6 million main street upgrade, we heard on the street today from a woman who had done some footwork of her own on the issue. Last October 2016 HDC hosted a consultation meeting with retailers at the Masonic premises in Foxton. It was by invitation. The day after that meeting she spoke to pretty much all of the retailers along the main street to ask if they’d received an invitation to the meeting the day before. Turns out she encountered more than eight people (representing eight shops) who knew nothing of the meeting and who never received an invitation. Now one or maybe two omissions would be understandable in light of an imperfect postal system or other human error, however eight is quite a lot to pass off under those reasons. With such a major spend up of $1.6 million, surely a follow up courtesy call to the mailed invitations would be standard procedure? And why did at least eight retailers not receive an invitation? A little shoddy don’t you think?
So what is the definition of consultation?

Are you being asked what you want? Or are you being told what is going to happen?
Consultation: are you being asked what you want and listened to? Or are you being told at those meetings what is going to happen?
We are frequently nowadays being given the illusion we’ve been consulted and as we all know in the Horowhenua true consultation hasn’t REALLY been happening witness the current outcry about the street upgrade, and the above being one example of that.
Now, consider the REAL reason you’re not being consulted PROPERLY. The people of Chilmington Green in the UK have encountered similar to what NZ districts are encountering (download their pdf file about this). Districts world wide in fact have encountered the same. I notice now, the local media is saying Council goings-on are being called a conspiracy by the public… thing is, they want to dismiss any questioning of their activities as conspiratorial. In fact, Agenda 21 is anything but conspiratorial. So we’ve had a turnaround on the science from our esteemed leaders entrusted with our care, it just isn’t happening here apparently. Watch this space.

Chemtrails, Nanoaluminum and Neurodegenerative and Neurodevelopmental Effects By Russell L. Blaylock, M.D.
The Internet is littered with stories of “chemtrails” and geoengineering to combat “global warming” and until recently I took these stories with a grain of salt. One of the main reasons for my skepticism was that I rarely saw what they were describing in the skies. But over the past several years I have notice a great number of these trails and I have to admit they are not like the contrails I grew up seeing in the skies. They are extensive, quite broad, are laid in a definite pattern and slowly evolve into artificial clouds. Of particular concern is that there are now so many dozens every day are littering the skies.
My major concern is that there is evidence that they are spraying tons of nanosized aluminum compounds. It has been demonstrated in the scientific and medical literature that nanosized particles are infinitely more reactive and induce intense inflammation in a number of tissues. Of special concern is the effect of these nanoparticles on the brain and spinal cord, as a growing list of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) are strongly related to exposure to environmental aluminum.
Nanoparticles of aluminum are not only infinitely more inflammatory, they also easily penetrate the brain by a number of routes, including the blood and olfactory nerves (the smell nerves in the nose). Studies have shown that these particles pass along the olfactory neural tracts, which connect directly to the area of the brain that is not only most effected by Alzheimer’s disease, but also the earliest affected in the course of the disease. It also has the highest level of brain aluminum in Alzheimer’s cases.
The intranasal route of exposure makes spraying of massive amounts of nanoaluminum into the skies especially hazardous, as it will be inhaled by people of all ages, including babies and small children for many hours. We know that older people have the greatest reaction to this airborne aluminum. Because of the nanosizing of the aluminum particles being used, home filtering system will not remove the aluminum, thus prolonging exposure, even indoors.
In addition to inhaling nanoaluminum, such spraying will saturate the ground, water and vegetation with high levels of aluminum. Normally, aluminum is poorly absorbed from the GI tract, but nanoaluminum is absorbed in much higher amounts. This absorbed aluminum has been shown to be distributed to a number of organs and tissues including the brain and spinal cord. Inhaling this environmentally suspended nanoaluminum will also produce tremendous inflammatory reaction within the lungs, which will pose a significant hazard to children and adults with asthma and pulmonary diseases.
I pray that the pilots who are spraying this dangerous substance fully understand that they are destroying the life and health of their families as well. This is also true of our political officials. Once the soil, plants and water sources are heavily contaminated there will be no way to reverse the damage that has been done.
Steps need to be taken now to prevent an impending health disaster of enormous proportions if this project is not stopped immediately. Otherwise we will see an explosive increase in neurodegenerative diseases occurring in adults and the elderly in unprecedented rates as well as neurodevelopmental disorders in our children. We are already seeing a dramatic increase in these neurological disorders and it is occurring in younger people than ever before.

Negotiating the road crossing with no curbing leveled to a ramp for the elderly with walkers
Aside from the fact HDC is hocking off the pensioner housing stock, how will the elderly fare with the new Foxton main street upgrade? Having observed the elderly walking along the main street over several days, it seems the clever people who designed the upgrade forgot to factor them in. It’s common knowledge that Foxton has a high ratio of older citizens. And yet, watching them negotiate the main street currently is very interesting. This dear lady in the above image had to lift her walking frame over the curb before she could proceed across the road over the stones. Now if you are in need of a walking frame you are, one could safely conclude, unsteady on your feet. So lifting the frame over a guttering then stepping over it yourself could be quite a risky venture.
So if it’s temporary, what’s the problem? Take a look at that curbing. It has no ‘ramp’ or leveling from the path down onto the road as one would normally find on a foot path, enabling a smooth transition onto and off of the roadway. And they are making the street safer? Really? There’s not a ramp in sight so this appears to be permanent. And worse, where will the mobility scooters negotiate the crossing? At the public presentation by HDC a woman did speak up about this (weeks ago now). She had witnessed near accidents with people and their walkers sliding downwards on the gravel towards the gutter. This really isn’t all rocket science people. Who designed this upgrade & where did they get their credentials? One of those purchase online degrees perhaps?
Another gentleman spoken to on the street recently told us he had had a similar omission of a ramp to enter his drive. The new curb was built right across his drive way and he had to press for them to change it, and they did, but what an unnecessary cost having to re do it? How many other driveways have they ‘plastered’ over like that?

Then there is the entrance to the swimming pool. They’ve placed a garden area right at the entrance so if an ambulance needs access, well, they will just have to park up the road a bit and run a bit faster when they hit the pavement.

Because councils are now companies (check Dun & Bradstreet’s website) then their focus, like any company’s, is profits not people. Particularly not elderly people, going by this street fiasco. Their affordable housing is on the way out, what is next? There was a quick consult about the sales also (except Iwi by the looks … the OIA request we got on that had no evidence of it … in spite of their policy on Iwi relationships espoused on their website) … and people I know who attended said their anti sale views were quickly squashed. They were also given a very nice dinner I’m told.
The current contracts will apparently remain the same, but remember they’re still selling off the family jewels and the next set of tenants will of course have raised rents. Companies aren’t in business for love … the current council already raised the rents considerably since becoming a company. That’s all in the nature of neo-liberal economics … sell off the stock these old people helped build and if we go the way of America, offer them end of life counseling. What these people need to remember is they too will grow old and their fortunes are not foolproof.
I did omit to mention, the new Mayor who actually cares about old people, and who is and always has been against the sale of these flats, has been removed from the committee that is discussing the sales (see Horowhenua Chronicle 1/3/17) … because he has a conflict of interest, that is, he doesn’t agree with selling them. That gets rid of any pesky bias towards keeping them and presumably it’s going to help pay down the $70 odd million debt (the official figure, it’s said to be much higher) the same establishment accrued in recent years.
Folks from all around the Horowhenua gathered in the main street this week to express their disagreement once again with decisions that the Council have made that affect the public and not themselves. Need I repeat … the saga over folks wanting clean water and the Council wanting a street beautification that won’t particularly benefit them personally because they don’t even live in Foxton. They are in fact spending $1.6 million doing up the street to look like all the other main streets around the countryside, and meanwhile we bathe in chlorine and drink the same with the other contaminants contained therein. Slow poison from the cumulative effect or filter it at very great cost that few can afford. The street do up could wait or have a cheaper makeover in terms of new seal while more important matters are addressed like paying down the $68 million plus debt (other estimates are $100 mill) and fixing the water. What I have noticed at the protest is, of the many people who have stopped by and asked genuine questions, only a very few felt they’d been properly consulted and those who recall the more recent consultation meetings said they had been shut down. Those who could recall very early discussions, were back as far as 2010, when there was not a $68 million debt. This has changed now and there are different priorities. Debt & water.
People beginning to gather for the second day of the protest in Foxton’s main street
The Council has reaffirmed their flip flop … Foxtonians received on Wednesday (the first day of the protest) a written letter from three members of Council pressing home in true DC fascist style (which is becoming the signature of Local Government dealings NZ wide … remember they’re corporations) that the street do up will be going ahead, AGAINST the promise also made to Mayor Feyen by the CE. (Hear Mayor Feyen speak about this here).Agenda 21 has seeped well into the councils now. Learn on our Govt Watch pages (main menu) how many folks have been ruined in more ways than one in their fights with local Councils. (You can read the the letter from the three Councillors at the following link: foxton-main-street-upgrade). Councils typically hold ‘consultation’ meetings, shut down the dissenters who don’t agree with the plan, tick the ‘consult’ box and plow ahead regardless. Contracts appear to go to certain people and other people complain they are not opened for public tendering.
Now the media reports that our new Mayor has been thrown off the committee that is looking at the community housing sales people don’t want (and he has always openly stated that he is against selling off the housing stock), so much for democratic representation. His anti-sale stance gets him removed from the committee? And Council is democratic? In his term as a councilor he and Cr Ross Campbell were put off committees with no reason given, he spoke about this as Mayor in the early Council meeting when Councillors removed Ross Campbell as his appointed Deputy. Remember also, HDC is in at least $70 million debt, a debt that has been regularly questioned with no answers, and has met with a blatant refusal to open the books to the public. So what’s to hide?
Watch this space because HDC are in for a long battle here. People will not be run rough shod over forever, and particularly not the people of the land, tangata whenua. Council appears on their website to be all for partnership. Read their fine sounding rhetoric… remember :

In reality however, and as we ‘speak’, this fine DC has plans to allow the spraying of human effluent (basically human sewage) all over a Māori burial ground … a wahi tapu at Matakarapa in Te Awahou. Now if anyone should head up to the local public cemetery with one of those septic tank vehicles full to the brim with sewage and empty it all over the graves there, what do you think would happen?
A Takaka tramper who thought she was doing a public service by picking up 1080 poison pellets on the Heaphy Track nine days after an aerial drop of the toxin, has been issued with a warning by police and the Department of Conservation for carrying out an illegal activity.
Showing councillors the wet blue-green poison baits in a plastic bag during the public forum of a Tasman District Council meeting in Takaka yesterday, Hera Livingston said she had been “disgusted” to find 60 of the poison baits within the first four hours of walking the track from Brown Hut, in Golden Bay.
Asking the council to call a halt to aerial 1080 poisoning operations in the district, Ms Livingston said: “This is a health and safety issue. I spoke to a couple of French tourists on the track and they had no idea what the stuff was.”
Ms Livingston said she picked up 22 pellets but then stopped when she continued to find more.
She said she had not seen a warning sign at the beginning of the walk, although there were signs further up the track.
Observers at the 1080 drop near Lake Wanaka recently observed many baits on the tracks, with many tourists present that day. Carol Sawyer who was there that day described the following:
By 10.00 am two security officers had cleared the track to the Blue Pools. One had no gloves on, so she just kicked the baits to the side of the track. The other had gloves so he picked them up and tossed them into the undergrowth. It wasn’t much of an effort. One tourist told me he had seen two baits on the track and another showed me film of baits at the side of the track. SOURCE
Another observer said the bright coloured baits would have looked to a three year old, like a lolly scramble. How safe is this people?

In September last year a protest was staged by both Te Awahou (Foxton) tangata whenua and other local Foxton residents regarding the proposed moving of the cenotaph by the Horowhenua District Council (HDC). The cenotaph is placed over a urupa ( burial ground) and is a wahi tapu (sacred site). Following discussions, an agreement was made by HDC that there would be no more work on the main street beyond Wharf Street, or shifting of the cenotaph, until further consultation took place.
However:

The main street how many locals want it to remain … wide not narrowed

“Well, the day is finally here – H.D.C. has decided that work on the Main Street “Re-construction” is about to re-commence, REGARDLESS of the Public out-cry for the more important things (like Drinkable water to ALL house-holds, a more “long-term” solution to the waste-water/sewerage which they intend to spray onto the land over the river on Matakarapa – pray there isn’t a Westerly wind; you’ll get the “drift” straight in the face in town 😦 – and retaining affordable housing for the “Elderly” of Foxton).
They would like you all to be EXTREMELY HAPPY with a Water-tower that glows different colours in the night, and two fill-your-own water “out-lets” – one in town, & one at the beach.
So now, the NEXT IMPORTANT priority on their books is to NARROW the Main Street, put “resting Islands in the middle of the road, and place “garden plots around the street to EMULATE all the OTHER towns in the district, DESPITE THE FACT that the MAJORITY of Foxtonians would rather leave the Main Street alone, and concentrate on the more IMPORTANT THINGS!
Else-where we have seen “written comments” from people who have lived in ALL those towns From Waikanae in the South to Whanganui in the West – Fielding/Palmerston North in the North to Ashhurst …. ALL of them are replicas of each other, and I’m sure would “cut off their left arm” to have the wide Main Street we have in Foxton!

It was mentioned that “we” had called on the “Nomads” to back us up; that they THREATENED workers at the Cenotaph.
That is a COMPLETE LIE! Those members of the Nomads who were present are Whanau, and their PROTEST was the same as ours; THIS IS THEIR TOWN TOO!
NO-ONE was EVER THREATENED – in any way, shape or form.
I ask ANY-ONE who feels they need to “stooped to THIS LEVEL of fabricating” to cease it IMMEDIATELY; you really need to “grow a pair” ….
So, I serve notice here that I, and ANYONE ELSE who wants to accompany me am NOT going to sit “idly by” – I am going to stand in the way of ANY WORK continuing until that PROMISE is FULFILLED.
I am passive; my intentions are non-violent as are those who choose to accompany me; my word is my bond – (unlike others I have met associated with this FIASCO)!
I am going to get EVERY “MEDIA” I can to cover this T.V./Paper/Radio – we live in a DEMOCRACY …. The cenotaph is situated at the northern end of the town’s main street. The protest at the cenotaph last year was part of the proposed plans by HDC for a very controversial street revamp that many Foxton locals do not want. Two weeks ago Council representatives gave a presentation of their intended street plan at a public venue in Foxton which brought out again the ongoing opposition by the public that exists to the revamp. The street is unique in its width and locals want it to stay that way.

They would prefer that the intended $1.6 million spend on the street be spent on cleaning up the drinking water and opening up the river loop at Foxton where the water is stagnant and polluted.

During last year’s protest, a meeting was organized at the Foxton Police Station between the protest leaders and HDC’s CE David Clapperton. Then Councilor Michael Feyen (now the Mayor) was not permitted to attend. That meeting ended with the promise from the CE of no further work without further consultation with the public. That point was pressed home in Mayor Michael Feyen’s concluding address at HDC’s recent presentation. He continues to maintain his stance against the street narrowing.

The Horowhenua District Council’s website does pay tribute to the ongoing important relationship between tangata whenua and the Crown, however in light of these events it is leaning somewhat towards lip service:

A warning for those that are walking to the Kahurangi Light House (West of Golden Bay)
Last week people we know who live in the region picked up a “very gutted” walker (during the uninformed 1080 predrop) who said 5 choppers were dumping pellets on him along the coast line as he took his annual holidays out at the Kahurangi Light House. He has gone home to Wellington vowing not to come back to this area.
Yesterday when they were away from home they were alerted by a neighbour via txt that two 1080 trucks were heading to the Anatori to complete the kill over the Kahurangi National Park.
Our informants visited DOC and got the complete “run around” when questioning the information to the public procedures. One woman said “if they can meet the local newspaper deadline” the alerts to the drop would be listed there. Another said they leave a map in the front window of DOC and they don’t know from day to day when the drops are going to be because they are weather dependent. What? Do tourists have to visit the DOC office in Takaka every day to know if they (including tourists) and their animals can visit the region’s forest and coastal areas!? The Maps on the DOC website are just a general view NOT GIVING DATES. if you go to this link you will see that the date on this is 2016. No one in the Takaka DOC office seemed to know if there had been a notification our informants told us. They eventually found one in the local rag but were stunned at the apparent compartmentalization/ ignorance of the staff. The notification in the local paper DOES NOT HAVE DATES they said. After speaking to Manager Steven (no last name given) they were informed it was up to the people to check with DOC before walking any of their tracks! EXCUSE ME? You are laying poison that any child or dog could pick up and you don’t have to notify of dates? Just a general notification is acceptable?
People, this is very serious. You can see how our basic rights now have a clause added to them. Your government is poisoning willy nilly and this is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find out if it is safe to move through our forests.
May I ask if the innumerable tourists who visit NZ are informed of this poison program and if it is now THEIR OWN RESPONSIBILITY to get information from a DOC Office (they have undoubtedly never heard of)? Going by Carol Sawyer’s recent article, most of them are totally oblivious to the 1080 drops and had no idea what was going on with SEVEN helicopters overhead.
This is appalling management of NZ’s taxpayers’ rights and resources. The Government MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE for putting citizens’ and tourists’ lives in danger. Tourism NZ should be alerting EVERY incoming visitor about these ‘clean green’ poison programs at the very least. The tourists that our informants have spoken to over these last months are absolutely horrified to hear of this program after walking our supposedly safe tracks. Many of them have vowed to go home to alert their traveling friends they said, to avoid New Zealand and under the circumstances, so they should. If our Government is not going to be forthcoming as to the nature of this program, then is it really up to the accommodation places, hosts of visitors and the locals to share this information?

At Makarora, Mt Aspiring National Park, an area of unsurpassed beauty on the eastern side of the Southern Alps, yesterday, 23 February, 2017, HeliOtago dropped 76 tonnes of one of the world’s deadliest poisons, Compound 1080, in a DoC “Battle for Our Birds” operation. 1080 has no antidote.
The Blue Pools Walk is a short walk accessed from the main highway, State Highway 6, and is extraordinarily popular with tourists who want a break and a cool bush-walk after driving over the Haast Pass from South Westland. They also often want a swim on a hot day, and I am told tour-bus drivers encourage them to swim and to jump off the bridge at the Blue Pools. By 10.00 am two security officers had cleared the track to the Blue Pools. One had no gloves on, so she just kicked the baits to the side of the track. The other had gloves so he picked them up and tossed them into the undergrowth. It wasn’t much of an effort. One tourist told me he had seen two baits on the track and another showed me film of baits at the side of the track.

A Makarora local, who was on the track at the time they were dropping the 1080 poison yesterday morning, told me the helicopter that went over his head zig-zagged above the Blue Pools, dropping 1080 poison, and the baits went into the water directly above the Blue Pools. The chopper also went along the edge of the Makarora River, along the bushline, dropping 1080 baits so they were flung out into the Makarora River too. None of the streams had designated buffer zones and so they were poisoned directly, BUT the Wilkin, Young and Makarora Rivers were supposed to have buffer zones. Therefore at least one, the designated bait-free zone around the Makarora River, was poisoned, even if unintentionally.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon at the entrance to the Blue Pools track. So did Shane Wilson and his father Ron. There was a constant stream of tourists. As they went in and as they came out we asked them if they knew about 1080 poison, and when the inevitable “No” was the reply, we handed them an explanatory ( and completely factual, and non-emotive ) flier, and then answered their many questions.
They were stunned – seriously ! There were no signs saying the poison had been dropped that morning. They didn’t understand that it was an aerial drop. They didn’t know what all the helicopters were doing.( There were seven helicopters swinging buckets and it sounded at times like I imagine the Vietnam War must have sounded ). They asked me : Is there a fire ? Are they mining ? Are they building something in the forest ?
One man, in appalled disbelief, came up to me and asked if he could show me film he had taken of a helicopter ” so close to people !” He had a young child on his shoulders. The helicopter was a speck on a ridge and THAT shocked him ? Those choppers had been swinging out so much closer to people than he had witnessed !
One young Swedish man was extremely distressed. He had swum in the water and was very upset when he found out about the poison. I said “Look you will be fine. You swam in it. You didn’t drink it”. Then he said he had been drinking it !
So had his girlfriend – from the Czech Republic.
I spoke to Indians, Brazilians, French, Germans, Scandinavians, Czechs, Danes, Dutch, most of whom understood English, or at least one of their number did and translated for the others, English, Americans, Australians, Canadians. ( Not, however, the Chinese. Malaysians, etc – I tried to talk to them but most didn’t speak English and went away as happily oblivious to poison as when they arrived !)
It was quite a business explaining why the government was dropping 1080 poison and why it was totally unnecessary but – when you tell people we drop 90% of the world’s supply and that it is killing EVERYTHING, not just the species they want to eradicate, and that stoats are not interested in 1080 baits ( when speaking to tourists ‘weasel’ seems to be an understood word, but ‘stoats’ not – so if you say ‘an animal like a weasel’, they mostly understand ), and that it is banned in many parts of the world, and that it is poisoning our land and we can no longer eat our wild food and that we have been dropping it for over 60 years and that we have had rats for 700 years and stoats for 150 and, and, and…..

What surprised me was the intense interest. I was watchful for glazed-over eyes and polite departures but no… the questions poured in and so many people said ” What can we do to help ?!!” An Englishman, who sounded a bit like Prince Charles, was looking at the loadout zone and he said to me ” I hate this sort of thing ! ”
When I was asked how they could help, I said to people: “Take photos of those helicopters. Explain to your friends on social media. Write letters to major NZ newspapers, stating your shock and upset and disbelief at seeing what is happening in a land you regarded as clean and green and 100% pure. Don’t write to the NZ government – the letter will end up in the bin. A letter to a newspaper, from an international visitor”, I said, “is worth more than 100 letters from New Zealanders”
So many said ” But we thought you were clean, green… “
I told them about the film “Poisoning Paradise”. I told them to look it up on Google. I said it had won four international film festival awards and it has not been allowed to be shown on National TV in NZ.
I told them to go to the websites and Facebook pages on the flier I gave them.
I know some of them will – they were truly SHOCKED !

“Animal Control Products” ( recently given the more obscure name “Orillion” ), the NZ state-owned factory, has a 1080 warning label which states ” Avoid pollution of any water supply with pellets” and states that the pellets are harmful to aquatic organisms.

Here is an example of UN Agenda 21 and ‘sustainable development’ in action (now known as Agenda 2030 as time moves on). Netherlands-based bank Rabobank with the aid of an armada of government-paid enforcers arriving in government vehicles along with grubby receivers Ferrier Hodgson heavied Noeline Bradshaw and her son Neil to get off their cattle property, Ballabay north of Pentland. Noelene and Neil were arrested by several violent officers and marched off to the paddy wagon. Although the receivers and Rabobank representatives indicated they would go to the negotiating table after a court appearance on Thursday, in order to avoid a welcoming party at the property they did not arrive on Monday February 20 as they had indicated. Instead they arrived in military style on Wednesday, with enforcers blocking the entry road and threatening any media or supporters with arrest if they tried to enter. Ferrier Hodgson were supposed to remove the family on “voluntary terms” as they had suggested. It appears they did not wish to have any other parties present when removing the entire family. Neil Bradshaw owns cattle on the property that are not mortgaged to Rabobank. He previously circulated descriptions and brands of his cattle to all livestock agents and meatworks warning them not to deal with the cattle.
This sorry saga of a foreign bank dispossessing honest, hard-working Australians from their properties is completely sanctioned by the LNP and Labor Party. Bank industry sources believe Rabobank is acting in league with coal and gas companies to remove land holders in order to easily access known coal and gas reserves in the Pentland district.
“Rabobank will have token buyers lined up ready to buy the properties at discounted prices, leaving the Bradshaws holding the bag with a $1 million or more deficit, which without any means of income they will never be able to pay off,” the source said.
Yesterday Member for Kennedy Bob Katter weighed into this disgraceful episode, contacting the Labor Polce Minister(whose husband is a police inspector) then arriving at the Charters Towers police station to get the Bradshaws out of the watch house.
He was told the Bradshaws had been released just before he arrived. The clearly upset Bob Katter told Cairns News that the lending practices of the banks are designed to allow foreclosures. “In this case the bank loaned the family too much money because of droughts and poor cattle prices then the government-instigated live cattle export ban which placed them in an unviable position,” he said. “The banks are a law unto themselves and there is no power on earth to control them. “I have got hundreds of similar cases on file where farmers have not been able to get any relief from any of the so-called government watchdogs like ACCC, courts, the Reserve Bank ASIC and others that are supposed to offer financially stressed businesses relief. “Banks like Rabobank continue to flagrantly break the law. “The Bradshaws are devastated after a lifetime’s work to lose their possessions to a foreign bank or any bank. “The bank will make a profit of half a million or more from these seizures and the Bradshaws will have to carry a $1 million or more debt for the rest of their lives. “This assault on an Australian farming family clearly demonstrates the urgent need for a Royal Commission into banking practices.”

In April 2010 Dr Meriel Watts from the Pesticide Action Network NZ (PANANZ) wrote to Environment Waikato regarding 10-20 year consents for the dispersal of 1080 poison. At the grafboysblogspot.com her letter is recorded …
“As you are no doubt aware,” she wrote … “1080 is classed by the World Health Organisation as an Extremely Hazardous pesticide (Class 1a WHO). You may not be aware that as such it falls within the category of Highly Hazardous Pesticides for which the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking a global phase out.
That Environment Waikato is contemplating 10 or 20 year consents to use, let alone aerially disperse, 1080, when a UN agency is promoting a global phase out of all such pesticides is extraordinary. I can only assume that you officers are not aware of the situation.
To issue consents of 10 or more years duration also flies in the face of ERMA’s concern about such on-going widespread dispersal of 1080 in the environment, and their support for more research into alternatives. There will be no room for introduction of alternatives in the EW region if these consents are granted.

There are so many recorded instances that there is no need to elaborate on them here. Nor the fact that the suffering of these animals on the way to death is extremely inhumane.
That New Zealand has such a history of poisoning its indigenous species, livestock and companion animals is a shame we have to live with. But we do not need to perpetuate it. Thankfully the era of poisoning everything we don’t like is passing, and intelligent new, targeted approaches to pest management are taking its place.
It is time now for Environment Waikato to move forward with the rest of the world, and introduce alternatives. Trapping has been shown to be an effective method of controlling possums, at the same time utilising a valuable resource for the benefit of the national economy, and trapping technology is continually improving. On the other hand, years of experience of 1080 dispersal has shown that this approach is not sustainable, it has to be repeated at regular intervals, each time with its negative consequences for theenvironment.
Pesticide Action Network therefore urges you to reject the idea of extended resource consents for aerial dispersal of 1080, and to instead focus your resources on rapid introduction of sustainable, environmentally friendly, and socially supportive alternatives such as trapping.
Yet still NZ advertises itself as clean and green. How far from clean and green can a country get one would have ask? All that aside from the cruel death these animals die. Christchurch Firefighters Frustrated and Bewildered
The New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union, representing all career front line firefighters can reveal that Christchurch Fire Service Crews (career firefighters) were stood down and told to return to Stations while the catastrophic Christchurch fires continued to burn – said Derek Best, Secretary of the Union.
The Union can reveal that Rural Fire Officials in charge of the incident stood down all career firefighters battling the blaze. The order to stand down was given at nightfall in day one; leaving career firefighters frustrated, bewildered and disappointed.
The fire was left to burn out of control and the frustrated firefighters could see the flames from their Stations. Ninety minutes later, the alarm was re-raised and Christchurch firefighters responded back to find the fire had gained significant momentum and was seriously threatening many properties.
As a result of returning to the locality from which they had been stood down from, they saved at least six houses from total destruction – said Derek Best.

Port Hills firefighter allegedly threatened with arrest for fighting blaze
Andy Nicholson says he was told he would be arrested if he didn’t stop fighting the fire on his rural Early Valley Road property.
Nicholson is part of a local fire brigade that was fighting the Port HIlls, Christchurch, fire on Monday night with a water tanker.
A video filmed by his 19-year-old son Robert shows him driving up to a neighbour’s house to try battle the blaze before realising the situation was too dangerous.
“The most important thing is to get to a fire early [but] by the time we got to Ken’s place this thing was astronomical. The fire had rocketed up to the edge [of the road]. It had engulfed everything.
He went back to protect his own property, where there is now damage to his pasture and fences. Luckily his house and livestock made it through the fire unscathed.
But, he said, a policeman forced him to leave nevertheless, allegedly saying he would be arrested if he didn’t comply with the evacuation order.
Christchurch firefighters were told to “stand down” by Rural Fire officials and return to their stations on the first day fires started to engulf the Port Hills, the NZ Professional Firefighters Union says.
“The fire was left to burn out of control and the frustrated firefighters could see the flames from their stations,” Secretary Derek Best told 1 NEWS.
It wasn’t until 90 minutes later the alarm was raised to respond.
“As a result of returning to the locality from which they had been stood down from, they saved at least six houses from total destruction,” said the union. (TVNZ)
About 450 homes have been evacuated since the fires started burning on Monday, with eleven destroyed.
As a result of the stand down, the union says it is starting to question whether more houses could have been saved.
“The union and firefighters seriously question the tactical command decisions made and believes the tactics adopted were significantly flawed,” Mr Best said.
The union says there is an urgent need for a full and independent inquiry.
This is not right at all. Sending firefighters away? This is tragic. May justice be done, and a full and independent inquiry be conducted. What are the chances? We’ll see.
On 10 Feb we reported on the intended spread of 1080 over Kahurangi National Park in the South Island amid mainstream media silence. The Grey Star newspaper was the only newspaper we are aware of, to publish on it. We’ve encountered denials on various forums and alternative news sites this week, however reliable sources on the ground in the area confirmed for us on the 10th February of the pre-feed drop as actually happening. Mainstream, say locals, has been strangely silent on the event, although on the 15th February Stuff finally reported on the pre feed drop. This drop is the one that is poison free and accustoms the animals to eating the bait. The poisoned bait will follow.

We were also informed that locals, to their very great credit, declined accommodation for DOC workers doing the pre-feed drop, forgoing a sizeable sum of money. These people are putting their money where their mouth is. Amidst local rumors whether or not the drop was happening, on the night of the 14th two big hoppers were seen on the back of a truck heading south toward Anatori.
This morning (17th February) several trucks and other vehicles were seen returning from Turimawiwi area just north of Kahurangi Lighthouse. They were obviously part of the drop it was said, as evident by the equipment they had on board. They had picked up a tramper who had been down at the lighthouse and saw no less than five choppers spraying the area. The tramper had had to flee from his trip to the light house because 1080 pellets were being dropped both north and south of this favorite tramping spot. The tramper was on holiday from Wellington, and appalled to have seen no notification of the drop.
Pre-feed drop or not, there should have been some notification for the public.
This is UNACCEPTABLE!!

Concern for trampers in pest operation
“The Department of Conservation has started its Battle for our Birds aerial pest control operation in the Makarora Valley near Wanaka but there are concerns about the apparent high numbers of trampers still in the area.
Doc Central Otago operations manager Mike Tubbs said the operation would begin today with a pre-feed of non-toxic cereal pellets dropped by helicopters over the Makarora valley and its tributaries, the Fish, Blue, Young, Cameron, Wilkin and Siberia Valleys.

The U.S. Council of Environmental Quality has estimated that cancer risk among those who drink chlorinated water can be up to 93 percent higher than those who don’t.
A 1960s book by Dr. Joseph Price called “Coronaries Cholesterol Chlorine” was one of the first publications to expose the connection between chlorine and a higher risk of stroke and heart attack. Test animals exposed to chlorinated water during research studies showed at least some levels of circulatory or heart issues, whereas those not exposed to this toxic element showed no evidence of these problems. Chickens exposed to chlorinated water showed evidence of overall poor circulation as well as drooping in their feathers, lethargy, and visible shivering.
By contrast, animals not exposed to chlorine show better growth rates and much more vigorous overall health. (This is an indicator that pets and farm animals should also be given non-chlorinated water)

In March, 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a research arm of the World Health Organization (WHO), reclassified glyphosate as a “probable carcinogen” (Class 2A).1,2
The decision was based on “limited evidence” showing the weed killer can cause non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and lung cancer in humans, along with “convincing evidence” linking it to cancer in animals.
The IARC is considered the global gold standard for carcinogenicity studies, so its determination was of considerable importance. It’s also one of the five research agencies from which the OEHHA — the California agency of environmental hazards — gets its reports to declare carcinogens under Prop 65.
Monsanto has vigorously pursued a retraction of the IARC’s damning report,3 to prevent California from pursuing a cancer warning on Roundup and other, newer weed killers in the pipeline, designed for use on the company’s latest genetically engineered (GE) crops.
Monsanto Forced to Put Cancer Warning on Roundup
Their efforts have so far failed, and Fresno County Superior Court Judge Kristi Kapetan recently struck another nail in the company’s coffin, striking down Monsanto’s attempt to overturn California’s 2015 ruling to require Prop 65 warnings on glyphosate.4,5,6
While Kapetan has yet to issue a formal decision on the matter, Monsanto says it will challenge the ruling, if upheld. As reported by LA Progressive:7
“California would be the first state to order this level of labeling if this decision by the California Carcinogen Identification Committee is sustained by further court action.
Monsanto previously sued the nation’s foremost agricultural producing state by filing court motions to the effect that California’s carcinogen committee … had illegally based their decision for mandatorily requiring the warnings on “erroneous” findings by an international health organization …

As is the custom of sold-out NZ media, there’s been little if any mention of this intended drop of deadly 1080 tomorrow anywhere. The lure baits have already been dropped today (13th Feb 17) to get our wildlife eating and trusting, while tomorrow they will be munching on genuine deadly 1080, courtesy of Mt Hutt Helicopters. Massive 1080 drop about to start

The largest 1080 poisoning operation in New Zealand conservation history is about to get under way in northern Buller and Tasman.
The Department of Conservation is planning to carry out aerial 1080 pest control over about 270,000 ha of the Kahurangi National Park this spring as part of its Battle for Our Birds predator control programme to protect native species from a plague of rats and stoats.
It was met with protests outside DOC’s Takaka office this week.
The cost of the aerial drop was about $4.3 million, DOC spokeswoman Fiona Oliphant said.
It is the largest area in DOC’s Battle for Our Birds predator control programme, and has been broken up into six operational blocks of between about 20,000 and 60,000ha.
The Kahurangi operation is one of 25 confirmed Battle for Our Birds operations using aerially-applied 1080 poison over about 680,000ha of conservation land to knock down rising predator numbers fuelled by the unusually heavy seeding in South Island beech forests.
Six operations have been completed. The largest operational block completed to date is 30,000ha at Waitutu forest, in Southland.
DOC Motueka conservation services manager Mark Townsend said it was estimated that without pest control, rat tracking levels would reach 100% in November in parts of Kahurangi National Park.
Rat tracking levels increased from 54% in May to 90% in August in the Fyfe River area, from 31% to 51% in the Cobb Valley, from 43% to 78% in the Waingaro River area, and from 34% to 63% in the Oparara Basin, at Karamea.
“We are particularly concerned to safeguard threatened populations of whio, great spotted kiwi, kea, kaka, rock wren, long-tailed bats and powelliphanta snails.”
The drop includes the Wangapeka-Upper Karamea. Aerial drops are planned over 45,000ha in the Fyfe, Owen, Wangapeka, Crow and upper Karamea catchments in south-eastern Kahurangi National Park. An aerial operation was last carried out in the Wangapeka catchment in 2011.
DOC said yesterday this was its largest poison operation and it was checking to see if it was larger than previous Animal Health Board poisonings.

Record high fatal radiation levels, hole in reactor detected at crippled Fukushima nuclear facility
Record high radiation levels that’s lethal even after brief exposure have been detected at a damaged reactor at the Fukushima power plant in Japan. Specialists also found a hole, likely caused by melted nuclear fuel.
Radiation levels of up to 530 Sieverts per hour were detected inside an inactive Reactor 2 at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex damaged during the 2011 earthquake and tsunami catastrophe, Japanese media reported on Thursday citing the plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO).
A dose of about 8 Sieverts is considered incurable and fatal.
A hole of no less than one square meter in size has also been discovered beneath the reactor’s pressure vessel, TEPCO said. According to researchers, the apparent opening in the metal grating of one of three reactors that had melted down in 2011, is believed to be have been caused by melted nuclear fuel that fell through the vessel.
The iron scaffolding has a melting point of 1500 degrees, TEPCO said, explaining that there is a possibility the fuel debris has fallen onto it and burnt the hole. Such fuel debris have been discovered on equipment at the bottom of the pressure vessel just above the hole, it added…
