A single doctor at a Texas abortion clinic performed 67 abortions in 17 hours before the state’s Heartbeat Law went into effect on Wednesday.

This law bans most abortions from occurring after a fetal heartbeat is detected–usually around six weeks of gestation. But, Executive Vice President of the American Life Legion, Hugh Brown, argued that these measures were not enough; infants should be protected from the moment they are conceived.

“Abortion bills that subject children to death, are not life saving measures. A ‘heartbeat’ bill means children in their mother’s womb whose heartbeat is not yet detectable is subject to execution. How is that just?” Brown told CNSNews.com.

The night before the law was implemented, Texas women flocked to the Whole Women’s Health Clinic in Fort Worth to get their abortions in time, reported the Daily Wire.

The US so-called war on terror has taken almost one million lives across the globe and cost the country $8 trillion, over the past two decades, says a new report.

A report issued by Costs of War Project at Brown University, at end of the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan, estimated 897,000 to 929,000 people have lost their lives as a direct result of war, whether by bombs, bullets or fire, in some 80 countries.

“The war has been long and complex and horrific and unsuccessful… and the war continues in over 80 countries,” said co-director of Costs of War, Catherine Lutz on Wednesday.

The death toll, includes US military members, allied fighters, opposition fighters, civilians, journalists and humanitarian aid workers, the report said.

The Australian Senate has passed a controversial law giving new and powerful surveillance powers to law enforcement agencies, including 60 amendments proposed by the House of Representatives.

After The Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identity and Disrupt) Bill 2020 is signed into law, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) will have three new controversial powers to handle online crime.
