Former Archbishop Philip Wilson, until recently one of the highest ranking Catholic clergy in the world, has been spared a prison sentence despite being found guilty of concealing child sexual abuse by a pedophile priest from the authorities.

In handing down his sentence in Newcastle Local Court, magistrate Robert Stone on Tuesday stated Wilson, 67, could serve his 12-month custodial sentence in the comfort of his sister’s home, not behind bars.

Wilson, who was forced to resign as Archbishop of Adelaide in July after becoming the most senior Catholic clergyman in the world to be convicted of concealing child sex abuse, showed no emotion when the decision was handed down — and refused to apologize to victims of his crime.

Ten shipping containers filled with food, baby products, and over-the-counter medications like Tylenol — all supplies desperately needed in the days and weeks following Hurricane Maria — were found rotting in a Puerto Rico parking lot last week, never distributed.

The New York Times reports that a local Puerto Rican radio station found the goods, melted, spoiled, and covered in rat droppings, in a parking lot outside one of Puerto Rico’s state elections offices. The goods were clearly meant to help Puerto Ricans in need, many of whom went weeks without electricity and running water last summer in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

British police have arrested and charged thirty one members of a Muslim child sex ring in Huddersfield, England.  

Thirty men and one woman were found to have trafficked and raped girls between the ages of 12 and 18, between 2005 and 2012.

Detectives believe the offences were committed in the Huddersfield area.

Fehreen Rafiq, 38, is the only woman accused. She is charged with two counts of facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.

A Government Accountability Institute investigation has uncovered hundreds of cases of dead men and women voting in Ohio years and in some cases decades after their deaths.

The revelation that hundreds of dead people are registered voters in Ohio, a crucial swing state, raises serious questions about safeguards apparently in place to prevent such cases of election fraud, as well as shining a light on persistent Democrat efforts to block voter ID laws.

According to Eric Eggers, research director at the Government Accountability Institute, 170 registered voters in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District are listed as being “over 116 years old.”
