He perked up – I had him on the porch and when I went to buy more sardines he flew the coop. So all’s well that ends well.
I think he just needed to rest and to eat for a few days.

That’s good. I find the same sometimes with bumble bees that look stranded. A bit of honey & a rest & they’re away again. ( I just noticed my email came back ‘unable to deliver’ or something. I did reply. )
