Anti-lockdown demonstrations intensified around Europe on Saturday night as protesters in Rome hurled Molotov cocktails, bottles and rocks at police and there were also rising tensions in Barcelona and Dresden.
Early Saturday evening in Rome, a sit-in at the famed Campo dei Fiori ended in a clash with police as some in a crowd of a few hundred protesters began throwing bottles and firecrackers, before being dispersed by police with riot gear and truncheons.
Protesters also wielded banners, flares and the Italian flag before clashes with police saw one officer fall to the floor as others charged at demonstrators.

It was something that many people who switched to voting for the Labour Party last month hoped wouldn’t happen, but it has. Despite Labour being able to govern alone with a small, but still manageable majority in Parliament, a Labour–Greens deal for the new government has been done.
Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson will become an associate housing minister focused on homelessness and gain an entirely new role: Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence. Co-leader James Shaw will keep his position as climate change minister and gain an associate environment portfolio with responsibility for biodiversity.
Are these, in fact, stitch-ups of both for the areas in which Jacinda expected to achieve the least and she will be able blame the Greens for it? Does the deal involve the Greens not criticising anything else the government does or doesn’t do?

Two things I’ve learned over the years about John Pilger films are 1) there’s virtually no link between the film’s title and its content 2) they all include include considerable hidden history not taught in public schools. .
The main focus of this documentary is US empire building in the Pacific and its disastrous effect on US-China relations.

Millennial Kiwi Conclusion: They want to tell what food we can eat and what you can call it food. I know it’s not about getting us to be healthy; it’s about control. Repost Update (4 March 23): hopefully folk now realize that the ‘sustainable’ term really doesn’t add up. I noted recently organic oat milk imported all the way from Italy, and many other products like this. So what’s with the ‘carbon footprint’ carry on? This week in good old (not) clean and green EnZed the sold out media is crowing about the protest for immediate action on the climate change fiasco… they totally ignored all protests that encouraged dialogue with the corporation reps in the ivory beehive. If the Davos boys really cared about the environment they would encourage self reliance, growing your own food, use of all the resources within each country for that country. They would enforce taxes on the corporations and insist they clean up after themselves (witness the recent destruction in the Hawke’s Bay, East Coast flooding where slash has taken out bridges. Taxpayers will pay for those repairs, you watch). But no, they want a global village where we own nothing… and they own everything. EWR

Connection speeds are 50-150 mbps now and have 20-40 milliseconds of latency. By mid-2021, latency should be down to 16-19 milliseconds.

Dial Press in 1967 published an unauthored book titled “The Report from Iron Mountain on the Possibility and Desirability of Peace” that the publisher put forth as a report from a government-appointed panel.
The publisher claims it’s the product of a special and secret study group of 15 men whose identities were to remain secret. The year it was published, it became a New York Times bestseller.
A 79-page pdf of “The Report from Iron Mountain” (RFIM) is available via Wikispooks.
The heavily footnoted report concluded that peace was not in the interest of a stable society and that even if lasting peace “could be achieved, it would almost certainly not be in the best interests of society to achieve it.”
War was a part of the economy. Therefore, it was necessary to conceive a state of war for a stable economy.
The major conclusion of the report was that, in the past, war has been the only reliable means to achieve that goal. It contends that only during times of war or the threat of war are the masses compliant enough to carry the yoke of government without complaint.
RFIM sets up the false dialectic of nations versus world government. It’s implies that the national system is highly dependent on war, and that the cure is one-world government. This is invalid on its face.

The preliminary results on the two referendum questions are yes and no:
Nearly two thirds of voters (62.5%) ticked yes for legalising euthanasia and 53.1% ticked no to legalising cannabis.
The final vote count will be announced next Friday. They won’t overturn the euthanasia result and will be very, very unlikely to change the cannabis one.
