A Darfield family asked DOC not to take blood from their two 43-year-old kea, Casper and Stumpy. They did – and the birds were found dead less than 24 hours later.
A Darfield family blames the Department of Conservation (DOC) for the death of their beloved kea Casper and Stumpy.
The endangered alpine parrots have been part of Ron Stewart’s family since 1977 – but on Saturday morning he found them dead on the floor of their aviary.
Less than 24 hours earlier, a DOC ranger and veterinarian took blood samples from the birds despite Stewart pleading with them not to.

Kea Casper and Stumpy were found dead in their aviary on Saturday morning less than 24 hours after DOC staff took blood and examined the birds.
DOC staff, “shocked” by the birds’ “unintended and deeply concerning” deaths, returned to uplift them for a necropsy on Monday. They were ordered from the property.
The birds, thought to be about 43 years old, were given to Stewart and his late wife Dawn, an internationally renowned parrot breeder, by DOC’s predecessor, the Wildlife Service, in 1977.
Casper had a head injury and Stumpy’s leg had to be amputated. They were unlikely to survive in the wild.

Nor can we remove from our bodies the surreptitious viruses (e.g. simian virus #40(SV40)) that contaminated millions of first-generation polio vaccines. In many ways our moral fiber suffers from the same susceptibilities. Once we have crossed a certain line – be it theft, lying, or worse, etc., – it is difficult, if not impossible to ‘go back’ and regain our innocence. Such is the human condition. And this is why we must carefully consider the medico-ethical implications of new technologies, whose developments we must first be aware of in order to guide, regulate and sometimes terminate.

Debt levels at Horowhenua District Council have spiraled to $99million.
A Quarterly Treasury report by Council’s treasury advisors – Bancorp Treasury Services Limited – said, “As of Thursday 26 July, HDC has now got $99m in debt.”
The quarterly report also said Council’s net debt prediction in the Long Term Plan of $81 million by year end is based on the assumption of property sales of $7 million, new and improved asset purchases of $22 million and cash of $11 million by the end of 2018.
Also included in the Finance, Audit and Risk sub-committee agenda of 1 August was Council’s draft 12 month financial report to June 2018 which shows council spent $827,000 of a projected $956,000 budget on economic development projects that are not publicly detailed.
The draft 12 month report also serves as a stark reminder Council spends almost three times more on ‘economic development’ than ‘community development’ which had a forecasted budget of $361,000 compared with actual budget of $348,000.
Orillion is the new name for the Govt/corporation owned factory in Whanganui that manufactures 1080, the poison that is distributed liberally over our land in an endeavour to make us pest free. Per annum they drop 4,000 kg, enough to kill 20 million people. This is 22,000 times more than the rest of the world drops in fact it is banned in most countries. No wonder they wanted to re brand it. People are waking up to its toxicity. They’ve been dropping 1080 for 60 years now so it seems to not be working.
The old name of this establishment was Animal Control Products. However in 2016 or thereabouts, they enlisted a Massey University owned company in Wellington called Open Lab to re brand it. This does appear to coincide very much with the intensified awareness of the public to the darker side of this poison.

This is in no way a negative slant on Open Lab. They are just working for their dollars. Any design company could have done the task and the point here of course is to highlight the deliberate tactic of prettying up the poisoning program under a plethora of new and colorful rhetoric and images which of course is not new.

One of the most dangerous construction-related carcinogens is now legally allowed back into U.S. manufacturing under a a serious of loopholes by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as Fast Companyreports. The article said that on June 1, the EPA authorized a “SNUR” (Significant New Use Rule) which allows new products containing asbestos to be created on a case-by-case basis.
According to Fast Company, the EPA’s recently released report detailing its new framework for evaluating the risk of its top prioritized substances states that the agency will “no longer consider the effect or presence of substances in the air, ground, or water in its risk assessments.”
This news comes after the EPA reviewed its first batch of 10 chemicals under the 2016 amendment to the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which requires the agency to continually reevaluate hundreds of potentially toxic chemicals in lieu of removing…

CASCADE, HOPE, GORGE RIVER CATCHMENTS – 1080 DROP TO GO AHEAD DESPITE NO POSSUMS!

A DoC source told me today that the Hope River area had possum monitoring done and the bite cards showed there are virtually no possums in the area. I have been informed that the people who did the monitoring can’t understand why this drop is going ahead, and that DoC were thinking of cancelling it but that now, however, DoC have said that even though there are no possums there, it is too late to stop the drop, and it has to go ahead.
It’s all a bit confusing because it is an OSPRI drop and OSPRI drop 1080 for possums only, but it is also a DoC drop, as it is on DoC managed land and the map says Battle for the Birds and “rat control”. I guess with this method they’ve got a bob each way !

Of course 1080 poison, as DoC admit themselves, is no good for rat control because after an initial knock back they end up with a rat plague. I have been told by an editor of www.1080science.co.nz that the reason for rat plagues following 1080 drops is that “Nature abhors a vacuum”. After a 1080 drop there is a vacuum, the rats are the fastest breeding creature in the forest, and there is more food available.
“…..increased rat abundance following possum control is a consequence of greater availability of, or reduced competition for, seeds and fruit.”

OLD 1080 STOCK SOLUTION, DDT, CHEMICALS GO OFF IN A SHIP TO FRANCE?!
When it’s not being sprayed round the Palmerston North Landfill, that is. What happens if the ship sinks?!
George Robinson has worked in the pest control industry all his life. When he left the Manawatu/Wanganui (Horizons) Regional Council he had a gagging order put on him, but the time period is now up.
This is the story he told me, and I first posted it in January, 2017 :
They used to use (up to 2008-2009 that he knows of) 20% 1080 stock solution and dilute it to a field solution to put it on the green-dyed carrots, for rabbits. He said they had back packs and had it running down their arms, legs, backs….. They used to find dead birds everywhere, blackbirds especially. They were told it all dissolved in water and broke down.
They were sent to conferences run by NZ Pest Management Officers’ Institute. George says “I believe it was the Food Safety Authority that policed the regulations then”. He remembers one where Charles Eason (now CEO of the Cawthron Institute, but formerly senior manager with Landcare Research and a Professor at Lincoln University) spoke and told them “three pisses and the 1080 is gone from your system”.
They had a big holding tank and the stock solution could be held for up to 7 or 8 years before it was no good, but a man from a waste removal transport company would come along and pump out the holding tank. He would take it down to the Palmerston North landfill and spread it all over the ground, driving round in a circle. George says this guy was a straight-up sort of chap who was amazed that he was given permission to do it.
There was a facility in France where some of the stuff collected went – old farm chemicals such as DDT, etc. It goes on a ship which “must be a very toxic shipload”, George said. (I have been told recently that that facility in France is no longer used… I’m not sure where it goes now – Note 29 July, 2018).
He said that at present, Horizons are using Brodificoum on pastureland amongst stock, for possum control. He said it has killed stock but that the worst thing is that it accumulates in the liver and remains in the sheeps’ livers for 36 months. He said Horizons are using the High Strength version.
He himself has a CSL (Controlled Substance Licence).
He says Horizons must be one of the biggest users of Brodificoum. He rang Affco to see if they tested and they said they did random testing, and the Ministry of Primary Industries also assured him they did random testing. He said to them ” Why don’t you test the stock from the paddocks where you use Brodificoum?” but they didn’t want to know!
He said the Ministry of Health used to police the regulations but now that duty has gone to the Ministry of Primary Industries.
He said Horizons have a whole lot of operations, all doing the same thing – killing rats and possums. He said they will be killing birds as well and that the sheep and other livestock “hoover it up”. He said the bait stations are 1.8 metres off the ground, but the deer and cattle can reach them, and the possums are messy eaters and get it all over the ground, so the sheep can get it too.
George left Horizons because he was arguing with them about their 10 year plan for Brodifacoum pest control, and says he was forced out because he was against it.
He said the Greater Wellington Council is using Brodifacoum too. They used it on Tawaiti Station (a safari hunting operation on the East Coast). It killed a few deer and as they were going to sell some, they thought they had better test them for Brodifacoum. They found so much Brodifacoum in them that they shot around 70 deer and burnt the carcasses!

Thousands of studies spanning many decades show excess sugar damages your health,1 yet the sugar industry successfully buried the evidence and misdirected the public with manipulated science. According to the sugar industry, sugar is a harmless source of energy and may even be an important part of a healthy “balanced” diet.
Dr. Cristin Kearns, a dentist and fellow at the University of California, made headlines when she published a paper2 detailing the sugar industry’s historical influence on dietary recommendations. Evidence also shows how the sugar industry influenced the scientific agenda of the National Institute of Dental Research (now the National Institute of Dental and Cranial Research), which back in 1971 created a national caries program, downplaying any links between sugar consumption and dental caries.3
The documentary, “Sugar Coated” — which features Kearns, investigative journalist Gary Taubes, author of “The Case Against Sugar,” and Dr. Robert Lustig, a leading expert on sugar metabolism and obesity — investigates the sugar industry’s once secret PR campaign, showing how it normalized excessive consumption by deflecting evidence implicating sugar as a cause of ill health. As noted in the film’s summary:4
“In order to continue sweetening the world’s food supply, thus securing continued profits, the sugar industry turned to the very same deceptions and tactics lifted from the tobacco industry. Using big sugar’s own internal documents on this strategy, ‘Sugar Coated’ reveals the well-oiled tricks of the trade to confuse the public about what is really driving the global pandemic of obesity, diabetes and heart disease.”
Retired lawyer Marvin Siegel of Boxford, Massachusetts, has lived an isolated and heavily-medicated existence, against his will and wishes, after court proceedings in August in 2011 resulted in his being placed under a court-appointed guardianship and conservatorship that his family considers to be unlawful. His meticulous estate planning has been eviscerated, and millions of dollars continue to be plundered from the 88-year-old’s estate.
He is being held prisoner in his own home, under medical providers that his daughter has termed “24/7 guards.” Meanwhile, his daughters Attorney Lisa Siegel Belanger and Devora Kaiser tirelessly advocate for him in the court system, despite those who are working vigorously to shut them out of their father’s life.
At this point, those in charge of Mr. Siegel’s estate have drained half of the retired attorney’s approximate nine-million-dollar estate deceptively and fraudulently, according to Lisa. Further, as Lisa began to research her father’s case, she uncovered a network of corruption within the family and probate court system of Essex County, where the case is, as well as in other Massachusetts counties. The daughters’ court documents allege fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering, involving 40 litigants in the Siegel case alone.

In 2011, Mr. Siegel was starting to slow down a little, and he needed help around the house. His family stepped in to help, and they also arranged for a part-time worker to check in on him and tend to any unmet needs. Mr. Siegel asked Lisa and her family to move in for nurture and care.
Medical Kidnapping: Family Power of Attorney Revoked
One day, the worker reportedly called 911, stating that Mr. Siegel was believed to be a harm to himself or others. An ambulance arrived and took him to Beverly Hospital and then to a psychiatric facility for evaluation. That is where he was placed on lock-down, without any notification of his family. As Lisa and her family arrived home from a day out, they found Mr. Siegel being placed in the ambulance.
However, court documents state that Lieutenant Riter of the Boxford Police Department, who had known Mr. Siegel for ten years at the time, “had no experience with the elder being a legitimate threat.” Lieutenant Riter went on to say that the concerns that prompted the 911 call were “more benign than indicated,” and that “there has been no legitimate reason to use a section 12.”
Lisa said that once Mr. Siegel was placed in psychiatric facility, his financial advisor Brian Nagle reportedly facilitated having Attorneys Edward Tarlow and Catherine Watson go into the psychiatric ward to revoke the Durable Power of Attorney (DPOA) that he had previously executed in February of 2003.
Further, the attorneys brought with them papers retaining Attorney Tarlow and his firm, to “do whatever they wanted to do.” She went on to say that the paperwork also named accountant William Austin, who had a long, established relationship with Nagle, the new DPOA. Lisa said that Austin later refused to be attorney-in-fact. She felt that this was because he knew that she “wouldn’t be someone to run over.”
Lisa had been assigned DPOA when Siegel was fully of sound mind, but somehow attorneys were able to go into a psych ward and obtain his signature to revoke that document. Lisa accuses Nagle of “refus[ing] to carry out his fiduciary duty and honor the Durable Power of Attorney.”

Vitamin K is Necessary for Your Newborn
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the foremost expert in the world on vitamin K, Dr. Cees Vermeer, PhD, Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Maastricht (in The Netherlands). I am thrilled to be able to share with you some of the latest information about vitamin K that he shared with me.
While this injection itself may be inappropriate for reasons I will cover in detail, vitamin K is absolutely necessary for your newborn. However, there are safer and non-invasive ways to normalize your baby’s vitamin K levels that don’t require a potentially damaging injection.
Why Is This Shot Given in the First Place?
Vitamin K is necessary for normal blood clotting in adults and children. Some babies (in fact, most of them) are born with insufficient vitamin K levels.
In some newborns, this deficiency can lead to a serious bleeding disorder, typically in the first week of life, called Hemorrhagic Disease of the Newborn (HDN). Internal bleeding occurs in the brain and other organs, leading to serious injury or potentially even death.
While this disease is rare (incidence of 0.25 percent to 1.7 percent),i it is has been standard practice to give injections of vitamin K as a preventative measure to all infants, whether or not risk factors are present.
