In November 2022, Donald Trump stood inside Mar-a-Lago and announced that he wanted to be president again.
But this time, one person who had spent years standing loyally beside him was nowhere to be seen. His daughter Ivanka.
After four years working as a senior adviser, Ivanka announced that she was done.
“I do not plan to be involved in politics,” she said, choosing instead to focus on her children and “the private life we are creating as a family.” (Axios)
Jared was supposedly finished too. His “desire at this phase in my life,” he told Axios, was to focus on his company And yet, today, Jared Kushner is sitting across the table from presidents, prime ministers and even Hamas, negotiating some of the most consequential conflicts on earth.
He still doesn’t have a conventional government job, but as recently as this week, he was back in Cairo negotiating directly with Hamas over the future of Gaza. (AP News)

How did a couple who supposedly walked away from government become richer, more internationally connected and, in Jared’s case, once again deeply involved in American foreign policy — only this time, with far fewer of the rules that came with working in the White House?
