Regarding the Swedish court case,
This is about the lowest level of courts in Sweden – Tingsrätten (district court/thing). It’s found in numerous cities and have one judge and minimum two lawspeaker (always an even number). The real problem with the Swedish juridical system (Norwegian, Finnish, Icelandic and Faroe Islandic too) is that these lawspeakers are selected by the commune and depending on the political composition, the judgment may differ. They don’t need any juridical license nor education …
A number of years ago, there was a case in the district court of Södertälje, west of Stockholm. It was about a man beating his wife. Ok according to Sharia, but not according Swedish law and yes, they are Muslims. Clear case and a formality, but no … The judge voted guilty, while both lawspeakers voted not guilty.
