DoC 1080 drop kills 8 cattle – farmers tell their story (the GrafBoys)

On the 6th of September the Department of Conservation aerially spread 1080 poison bait across the Mapara Reserve. DoC declines a farmer’s request to extend the buffer zone around a 1080 drop in order to protect his lambing & calving animals

All this, as NZers rally at many points throughout NZ & in Wellington at Parliament, in protest against the aerial drops of 1080 on the land.

Prefeed was scheduled to be dropped on 6 Sept.

This email was received by a farmer in the area, who tried to get a bigger buffer zone as he has lambing and calving going on, but DoC refused. He has to contend with a 200 metre buffer zone – it is not enough !

They told him on the phone yesterday that the poison itself will be dropped next week :
