Yes you can use any copper as metal or spray as slugs and snails are killed by copper if they come into contact with it. Tui has a iron based product called Squash it consists of bran, sulphate of iron or iron chelate with yeast added. Yeast is the attractant, bran is the carrier and the iron kills slugs/snails safely when digested. Safe in garden only possible down side too much could alter pH Regards
