A single doctor at a Texas abortion clinic performed 67 abortions in 17 hours before the state’s Heartbeat Law went into effect on Wednesday.
This law bans most abortions from occurring after a fetal heartbeat is detected–usually around six weeks of gestation. But, Executive Vice President of the American Life Legion, Hugh Brown, argued that these measures were not enough; infants should be protected from the moment they are conceived.
“Abortion bills that subject children to death, are not life saving measures. A ‘heartbeat’ bill means children in their mother’s womb whose heartbeat is not yet detectable is subject to execution. How is that just?” Brown told CNSNews.com.
The night before the law was implemented, Texas women flocked to the Whole Women’s Health Clinic in Fort Worth to get their abortions in time, reported the Daily Wire.
