If you hadn’t already noticed, councilors are frequently silenced about all sorts. It’s what I’ve noticed anyway. That and their ‘public excluded’ meetings. All secret squirrel & not good enough considering who is paying them. The LG system needs reformatting. EWR

Wellington Mayor Andy Foster has called in the lawyers in what is being seen as an attempt to hush councillors talking about the city’s library.

Then, when Wellington City Council got word councillors were indeed talking, it doubled-down, with a warning from law firm Simpson Grierson sent to Stuff on Sunday night.

On Friday afternoon, Foster sent all councillors an email with advice he had sought from Simpson Grierson after some elected officials gave their opinions around strengthening the quake-prone Wellington central library.
