A number of the planet’s richest people, including billionaire co-founder of Paypal Peter Thiel, have, amidst a growing global pandemic, escaped to the country and bought luxury bunkers designed to withstand even nuclear explosions. LinkedIn CEO Reid Hoffman describes the practice as “apocalypse insurance.”

  1. I recall seeing a video about this some time ago. The guy who owned the house and bunker asked the interviewer to give him a hand with his gold and carry it down to the bunker. Apparently property prices have skyrocketed and the locals are moving out.
