Isn’t it great that your corporation cum govt is concerned about your pockets? ‘They’ think we are paying too much for petrol. Wow the coming changes will ” “swiftly” break the supply dominance of big fuel companies”. And the competition will bring the prices down ‘they’ say. Hmm. Didn’t ‘they’ say that about the powercos away back? And didn’t the power prices go up, and up, and up ad nauseum?
But then of course it’s election year isn’t it?
(Big Oil will of course manage to navigate a few loopholes & ramp prices up again when you’ve all voted ‘correctly’ & forgotten about this).
Minister expects to see fuel prices drop 18-32 cents a litre because of new petrol company rules

It is interesting to see the moves that missy Jacinda is making. I hear her talking about the oil companies and the huge profits they are making, but I hear very little about the huge amount of TAX we are paying on fuel, funny that, there must be a snag. At present barrel prices are around the 1980/90 level. How is it that we pay those ridiculous prices at the pump. Anybody remember what a liter of petrol cost in 1985? And that was Muldoon. They are full of shit at our expense, perhaps it’s time to down tools.

You only need to read The Brotherhood of Oil to figure whose nest gets continually feathered Pete, I know you know that. Down tools is a good idea. They didn’t squelch all auto inventions that would replace petrol for nothing, including the ones that ran on water. Same as the powercos when Tesla would have had us all on free power. It’s all rigged right to the last shred. I don’t recall the cost actually in 1985 however I do recall carless days.

At present the government collects approx. 69.984 cents per liter of petrol. (https://www.aa.co.nz/cars/owning-a-car/fuel-prices-and-types/). Adding GST to that, we are paying the government 80.482 cents per liter of petrol. So the question remains, who is ripping of the consumer?! The petrol companies or the GOVERNMENT!! YOU BE THE JUDGE!!! And why don’t we do something about this? Yellow Vests rings a bell, somebody?!

Hmmm. Thanks for that enlightening piece of info Pete. And in reply to your Q I’d say both I’m sure that BO factored in the govt’s cut to their price.
